Iron Maw Mountains

Overview

The Iron Maw mountains are described as the walls on which The Old Man Winter breaks. Sharp, and nigh unclimbable, they are the home to many flying monsters, like dragons and wyverns. To travel over them is to court death.

The insides of the Iron Maw Mountains, are another story entirely. Over the millennia, they have been hollowed out by various peoples, like Dwarves, Orcs, Gnomes, and Goblins. Solid deep caverns converted to vast underground Enclaves by the greatest artisans who have ever lived dot the Iron Maw Mountains. A master blacksmiths forge would magnum opus in the depths of those caves to be enchanted by the wizards of blood and roots of the world.

Due to the closed and close nature of these cities, the people are quiet, careful, and polite. The peoples of the Iron Maw Mountains are considered quick tempered and easily angered, because the standards of politeness that they hold are incredibly strict compared to those who live above ground. When the standards of politeness and courtesy are respected, they are actually far more permissive in their personal space than others. Since every waking minute is spent surrounded by friends, family, and strangers bumping up against each other, they value time they can spend alone. The people of the Iron Maw Mountains are often considered insular because while they want to be alone, they don't deal well with being alone for very long. This extends to other enclaves from the Iron Maw Mountains, because they have different politeness standards. A Dwarf from the Flint Barrens enclave will have more in common with an Orc from the Flint Barrens than he does with a Dwarf from the Gold Drought enclave. However the three of them have more in common than they do with anyone from Harvest Hills.

One thing that the people's of the Iron Maw are known for is their choruses. Everyone sings. Everyone harmonizes. Hundred part harmonies are fairly common songs, and thousand part harmonies are not unheard of. Most of these are sung acapella, but the use of horns and drums are also pretty common. It is unthinkable for an enclave to not be acoustically excellent.

Quote:

"Listen, this is important. Do not pick up your coins with your right hand. I'm serious. Pick them up with your left hand, and then count them into your right hand, at which point you can put the change into your purse. YES, you MUST count it, yes, even from your gram. In most of enclaves, it is a minor insult, but in others it will get a knife pulled on you. Which fortunately, you can still recover from."
