Sitting within the Principality of Forrand, the banner of the House is a tree with three holes in it. These represent the three sons of founding Lord of the House who all died fighting in the North. Recently Barkhome was forced to give up some land so the King could install his apparent heir Forrand Carnhold and give him some land to govern. But what the king took away with one hand he gave with another, giving some of the lands of the defeated House of Sleth to Barkhome. This was a psychological and financial victory for the House who still remembers how they have fought the northerners for centuries. They have adapted well to the new rule of the prince and have benefited from his wise handling of the economy and other matters.
The House are the defenders of the Lostmere Stone. This was a giant stone that was the site of a great victory for the House against its northern enemies. They had the stone carried back, with the enemies blood still on it. Today it has pride of place on top of their citadel of Lostmere. Pictures of these battles can be found all over their citadel, their old troops with their ancient flat hatted uniforms appear on massive murals.
They are dedicated to the Fedean, the codes of honor followed by many of the woodland houses. There is a school of the Fedean in the citadel and many Fedean masters come to study with the Barkhome. Alongside sword fighting they also teach elegance in regard to wielding a brush - they are masters of calligraphy an art highly prized in the mannuals of the Fedean which are themselves created using the same painting techniques.
