Blind Grasper

Creature in a Bottle

Blind Grasper

Wondrous item, uncommon

Blind Graspers are strange monkey-like creatures. They have been seen to inhabit both the underdark, where they climb around on ragged rock surfaces, as well as swamps and rain-forests, where they live in the lower, darker regions in the trees. They are not fully blind, but can see very badly, similar to moles. They rely on their excellent senses of touch and smell instead, to find small insects and plants like fruits, roots and certain leaves to eat. What makes them unique and clearly sets them apart from monkeys is their magical ability to elongate their thin limbs. They mainly use this power to dig for food in ground- and tree holes, but why exactly they developed this feature is still unknown.

The essence of their ability to stretch their arms and to an extend their legs lies within the Blind Graspers bone marrow. Alchemists use this substance as the magical ingredient to create a strange grey mass called 'Stretch Chew'. An eager alchemist can usually produce up to 3 batches of Stretch Chew from one Blind Grasper. Stretch Chew is basically magic chewing gum that gives the chewer the ability to stretch one's body like the Blind Grasper does. Whilst chewing on a Stretch Chew, a character gains 5 feet reach with his arms, which can be used in combat as well. In addition, the chewer gains resistance to non-magical bludgeoning damage as long as the chewing gum lasts. After 6 hours, the Stretch Chew looses the last of its strong flavor and with that it's magical properties.

"Tried it once whilst attempting to catch a Glowtoad and it was quite useful. The taste on the other hand I wouldn't recommend, my buisness professionalty end there." - Jette
