Elemental Reactions

Just like in the Video game, GITAW has elemental reactions!

When choosing an effect die, note that some trait dice will have elemental attributes. This makes your choice of elemental dice important because it can change how much "damage" you do to an enemy as well has the chain reactions it will cause. For example, if you have a pyro effect die and your opponent has a hydro or cryo complication, then if you succeed in your attack on them then you will cause a vaporize or a melt reaction respectively and create additional complications for your opponent! Note: Enemies can only have one elemental "affliction" at a time.

Some of these reactions are listed below, and others you may need to discover by yourself!

Pyro

  • Pyro -> Hydro Vaporize (Weak); The existing hydro elemental complication when hit with pyro explodes into a massive new physical complication, stepping up any existing complication die by 1.
  • Pyro -> Cryo = Melt (Strong); The existing cryo elemental complication when hit with pyro explodes into a massive physical complication, stepping up any existing complication die by 1 in addition to stepping up the main damage track complication die by 1.

Hyro

  • Hydro -> Pyro = Vaporize (Strong); The existing pyro elemental complication when hit with hydro explodes into a massive new physical complication, stepping up any existing complication die by 1 in addition to stepping up the main damage track complication die by 1.

Electro

Cryo

  • Cryo -> Pyro = Melt (Weak); The existing cryo elemental complication when hit with pyro explodes into a massive physical complication, stepping up any existing complication die by 1 in addition to stepping up the main damage track complication die by 1.

Dendro

Anemo

  • Anemo-> Pyro, Hydro, Cryo, or Electro = Swirl; Absorb 1 elemental application from each opponent that your swirl attack hit (that is not geo anemo or dendro) and add it to the "stack." Then, after applying your typical complication effect die damage, for each enemy still standing choose one new elemental application to apply to that enemy from the stack and trigger any other elemental reactions that would occur from the new interaction, if any. Once you apply an element from your attack's "elemental stack," you cannot reuse that element unless you absorbed a sufficient number of applications in your original swirl. Note: This also works on enemies without any elemental afflictions at the start of the swirl, and enemies that have permanent afflictions like certain elemental creatures.

Geo

  • Geo -> Pyro, Hydro, Cryo, or Electro = crystalize;
  • Geo -> Frozen = Shatter;

It is also important to note that there are elemental resistances to be aware of! For example, hydro slimes are immune to hydro complications given that they are pure hydro beings. This applies to all other elemental beings of their respective elements! In this regard, it is wise to bring a team
