Trine was born and raised in the city of Mondstadt. She was very young when her mother passed and was raised by her father and a family friend. Her father was part of the Adventurer's Guild and would often go on expeditions for months on end, but Trine never felt abandoned by him since he'd always return with gifts and stories of his adventures. Trine dreamed of becoming an adventurer like her father so they could explore the world of Teyvat together. When she was 12, Trine's father told her he was leaving for an expedition and when he returned, he promised to get her into the Guild so she could join on the next expedition and left her with her mother's necklace before he left. So, Trine waited. And waited. And waited. Trine becomes an Adventurer at the age of 14 and still no sign of her father returning. Eventually she had enough of waiting and begins to look for answers. No matter the outcome, she will find her father.
