The Drow of the Underdark are a type of Elf that is usually seen in a very suspicious light, especially since a good number of them follow the cult of Lolth, an evil deity often classified as a Demon. The others, most of which follow Eilistraee, despite having more varied moralities, are sadly often lumped in with the former by the less educated. However, there still are stories of adventurous Drow becoming heroes, which results in many people at least giving them a chance.
