- Do not steal from members of The Sterling Syndicate, or their business partners. The punishment is expulsion from the Silver Underground. Returning to the Silver Underground despite expulsion, without atonement, means death.
- Do not engage in unnecessary conflicts and fights. Those that instigate fights are expulsed. See Rule 1 for the consequences.
- Keep underground-business underground or outside the city. Engaging in thievery or unnecessary criminal activity in the overcity of Argentis is an unnecessary risk due to our agreement with the city guard. Depending on the trouble that these actions have resulted in, the punishment will be handled appropriately.
- Goods smuggled through the Sterling Syndicate in any smuggling-contracts are forfeit to the Sterling Syndicate, if there is a failure of payment. If the seized goods are not of a high enough value to cover the cost of smuggling, the contractor will be convinced to pay in other ways.
- Do not betray the Midnight Sun trust. Failure to do so will result in a 1-on-1 death match against Hrazurr the Strangler.
- Slavery is unacceptable. Slavers are killed without exception, and their "goods" freed from servitude.
A bustling undercity underneath the City of Argentis, where where smugglers, thieves and ne'er-do-wells meet. If you ever wondered why Argentis is such a calm city with a relatively low crime rate, then the Silver Underground is your answer.
Long ago, after a conflict between Argentian Law Enforcement and Argentian crime syndicates brought both sides to their limits, representatives of The Assembly and the crime syndicates met and struck an accord; their criminal activity would, from this day on, be allowed to stand unopposed, as long as their entire business done away from the eyes of law enforcement and the general population; underneath the City, in the Silver Underground. Those that didn't keep to this accord and kept doing crimes aboveground would still be prosecuted and locked away, but the city guard would not be allowed in the underground. And so, a peaceful resolution to this conflict was found.
Much has changed since then, as the old crime syndicates of Argentis have since then formed a united and organized thieves guild called The Sterling Syndicate, which leads everything in the Silver Underground. While the Silver Underground is a dangerous, rough place to conduct business in, it nonetheless has a surprising amount of rules that are uncommon for a place run by a thieves guild; with rule breakers often swiftly punished by being marked for death, should they return underground. The most strictly-enforced and most surprising rule of them all is "No Slavery of any kind", with foreign slavers who try to make business in the Silver Underground always being greeted with a quick slash of their neck, and the freeing of their "products".
The Silver Underground and the Sterling Syndicate are both currently led by a Shadow-Walker individual who is simply known as "The Midnight Sun". Their bodyguard, a hulking Tirrdaka Man of Bugbear descent who is known as "Hrazurr the Strangler", strikes fear into those that cross them, and is often used to make "problems disappear".
The entries to the Silver Underground are fiercely guarded. However, entry is given to all who know the answer to the question "What sees all that happens in the deepest night?".
