HotSC Session 27

The party continues the last leg of the Svantmiirik Founding Festival, as they find Mr. Cracklebones, currently attending to his own merchants cart on the festival grounds. Today, he's only offering his Lucky Shot, and the entirety of the Agate Seekers decide to take part in it. First, Sooty, as he picks up an unassuming looking wand, which turns out to be a Wand of Depth Perception. Philomena Snapdragon is next, acquiring a Stone of Stonedness (which does exactly what you think it does). Zora ends up and acquires a set of Mirage Leathers, Volk managed to acquire a Snow Silver, an enchanted silver coin that protects from Cold, Mikhail acquires a small bag Distracting Doubloons, and Dareth Lion'el proceeds to feel a bit like he wasted his money, as he acquires a Dread Helm.

As the party is about to go back to the festival, Mikhail proceeds to have a conversation with Mr. Cracklebones, where a lot of misconceptions about Feda-Lide such as him are cleared up. Mr. Cracklebones even gives a small anecdote about how he was once a Half-Orc at the The Argentian Institute of Magic and Ena as an Enchantment Wizard, before being turned into a Tirrdaka in an accident with a Shadow-Ena reactor, and then turned into a Feda-Lide years later when he was killed by bandits.

The party continues on, and they see Nax Skyscale in the distance, having a conversation with a maritimely-dressed half-elf. After she gave him a letter, which Nax read with increasing sadness before disappearing in an alleyway before the party could talk to him, they eventually find Grumakk and his crew, performing a traditional orc song and dance; although rather unprofessionally, even with the Shaman showing an impressive feat summoning several wolves as backup-dancers. Grumakk noticed the party and waved to Dareth, who promptly ignored him. The party then made their way to the last part of the Festival for the day, with Philomena pranking a Kobold mime and his Gnome companion who was casting Wall of Force to make the performance better on the way there. The last performance of the festival was the String Orchestra, performed by several bards and Cumulonimbus Cobaltshine himself, and as the festival ended, the party returned to their accommodations at the Bard's Rest Inn.

The next morning, the party had breakfast (though Volk's tasted a little off, as Philomena whistled innocently), and then returned to Argentis, meeting up with Captain Ukren Schwerter to give an update. Ukren tells them that they've been awarded with Guild Credits and a week up, and that they'll hopefully enjoy it.

Upon returning home, the party finds Punchy in front of the front door to their restaurant, A Taste of Home, who reports no incidents despite the restaurant being now opened. Turns out Kilbi Leaftooth opened the restaurant while the party was gone, and it was pretty well visited by merchants, but also adventurers from the Liwilai Adventurer's Guild HQ who missed Kilbi's cooking. The party then decided to order some food as "Jenny Deer" also comes to greet them. Some delicious food and a short conversation and update from Kilbi later, where she told the party of apparently a rat problem in the city, as well as a missing merchant from the Silver Harbour district, a crash is heard from the kitchen.

At the kitchen, the party finds a group of rats attempting to steal a wheel of cheese, who immediately flee into the sewers, as the party follows them. One sewer-adventure later, it turns out that a powerful Wererat of Malar infected a merchant who had a set of Rat King items, in order to steal his items, and then made him into a "Pet". Using these items and the rats summoned through them, this wererat stole and plundered throughout the city, and hiding in the sewers. Thankfully, the party was able to put a stop to this, with excellent teamworks and Volk dealing the killing blow. The Rat King items were then given over to the Adventurer's Guild as evidence, who gave the party a reward in money and Guild Credits, and the enslaved wererat-merchant to Esme O'Doherty, in order to cure him of his affliction.

Upon returning to their restaurant, however, Kilbi did give the party a letter which had been dropped off. A missive by the Midnight Sun.
