The Party recovers from their fight with the ogres from last time, with Philomena herself desperately needing healing; which is not helped by Sooty ripping out the bolt within her with his mage hand.
Over the night, Dareth Lion'el couldn't help but notice some scary storm clouds approaching, and the next day, there is indeed a Thunderstorm happening as the party travels along the mountain path. Mikhail notices a cave in the mountains and urges the party to go inside to take refuge from the storm.
While inside, however, the party notices a surprisingly smooth wall in the distance, with a metal gate broken on the floor. As the party goes on to explore, they find out that it's an ancient Illiadian research-lab. Some exploration later, and after making it through a decontamination room, the party finds themselves in the old lab proper. There, they get attacked by several crystalline creatures that attack them on sight; seemingly security of some sort.
While exploring, they find out that this lab used to research the planes of existence, both The Inner Planes and The Outer Planes, using a machine called the Planar Window, and that it once housed an ancient Illiadian artifact, called the Larimar of Power; but this was stolen long ago. Besides this, the head researcher was a bit TOO interested in investigating the Far Realm, a creature made it through the window, but it was put into stasis and locked behind the main gateway, shortly before the Great Wasting. But according to calculations, the power generator may not last for much longer. So the party, mostly Volk Lesnoy, decided that they probably should deal with it personally before it becomes a problem.
And thus, the party heads towards the computer room, to input the passwords so that the locked experimentation room can be reopened, and the creature destroyed.
