Lady Dahae is a Unknown, having spent the majority of her long life serving as a psychopomp. While she was traveling in the mortal world in a disguise one day, she met a young woman in the mountains. The pair took up a conversation, discussing poetry and even going back and forth in a game to see who could trip up the other first in writing it on the spot. Eventually, the young Suk Byung-Hee revealed through her verse that she knew what Dahae was despite her illusions. Dahae demanded that Byung-Hee tell what had given it away but she refused, so Dahae came back day after day to continue playing their game of poetry and to demand the answer.
It was only years later, after the two had fallen in love that Byung-Hee revealed that she knew because she had had a vision as a young girl of a day when she, an old woman, would be led to The Three Rivers of Death by a beautiful Kumiho dressed all in white for mourning and she had recognized Dahae when she saw her. Unable to deny either the vision or their blooming love, Dahae appealed to the First Fox as all Kumiho may do and was relieved of her psychopomp powers for a time, until the day the prophecy would be realized and she would lead her love into the next life.
