The Aleran Cassius College of Mages (referred to simply as Aleran) is the most prestigious school of magic in the thee kingdoms. It is named after Aleran Cassius - the Mage Patron (see Patronage).
Aleran is an expensive school to attend - usually only accessible to Ellonde elites. After the Treaty of 1135 the school was re-opened to foreign students for the first time in centuries.
The College is divided into eight departments, or Schools, each with its own set of curriculum and degrees. There is one Aleran School of Magic for each school of... magic. These are:
- Conjuration
- Necromancy
- Evocation
- Abjuration
- Transmutation
- Divination
- Enchantment
- Illusion
A degree from any of these literal Schools of Magic certifies a person as a true practitioner in that field.
