- Chat with Tiaumil's friend
- Chat with Tiaumil's sister
- Decide between trying to go to Merdelain via the Keep, or getting an item to use a boat
Just outside the Merdelainian village of Caldrithen, the childhood home of Tiaumil, the group found themselves at an ancient shrine to Jergal where they had landed after taking out the function of the tower they had been captured by. There they met Tiaumil's childhood friend, [Ahsar?], who had seemingly been worshipping at the shrine for many years since Tiaumil had left, up to the present day. [Ahsar] was shocked to see them there, but where it was clear that reigned despair had been prevalent in the man, hope sparked anew, believing his prayers and sacrifices had been answered with Tiaumil's return.
A lot had happened since Tiaumil had left. His brother had been slain, his elder sister driven away, as Merdelain had put down some stringent laws on the small villages, sending overseers to rule over them with an iron fist. Deciding that it was better to get the lay of the land, instead of going directly to the village, the group camped outside while [Ahsar] went to find someone they could trust. That ended up being Tiaumil's younger sister, [Nelyth?]. There was no warm welcome, her being more of a cut-throat personality, but enough to share information. She told them that there was quite a big movement against Merdelain, wanting to just live their lives. Despite prevalent rumours that Merdelain was trying to teleport them back to the material plane, a lot of the elves considered this as their home. They also found out that there were other changes. The rivers that had always been deadly, had now become larger and deadlier over time.
There was a lot of chat about what to do. If they wanted to go into Merdelain proper, they would have to go through [Kaldrithen] keep, or get a magical sextant currently in the possession of the village's overseer, then repair a boat in the harbour and go that way. All magical items had been confiscated when he'd taken the position. Now they just had to decide.
