The Sisters of Silence are an ancient order of elite psyker hunters who date back to the Great Crusade itself. Each member is a psychic null, commonly known as a “pariah” or “Unknown.” Far fewer in number than Psykers, these vanishingly rare mutants are of great use to the Imperium for the unusual qualities they possess. If they are discovered, the Astra Telepathica adopts and trains them to become a perfect weapon against psykers, as the curse which causes others to despise them protects them from the influence of psychic powers. Once they are trained and swear a sacred oath of silence, each Sister is granted their distinctive Vratine armour and the weapons they need to hunt psykers across the universe.
Sworn to Silence
Full Sisters of Silence never speak aloud, and often communicate through a complex system of sign language known as Thoughtmark, though a streamlined language known as Battlemark is used to relay crucial information quickly during combat. A Sister of Silence will typically retain a Sister-in- waiting to translate this secret language for outsiders.
