Born to a Draconid mother and a “heroic” Hoennian father, Kathy spent most of her life within the Draconid Village in Hoenn. Throughout her childhood, she learned much of the ancient ways of the people and culture that raised her; however, no matter what, there was little at the village that interested her. Sure, she preferred Dragon-type Pokémon over many other types. She even cared for her starter, Goomy, to prove that. However, she wasn’t interested or particularly good as a Pokémon Trainer, nor found interest in the rich history of the Hoenn Region. Thus, searched around for something that she had some motivation for.
That was, until she visited Sootopolis City.
Kathy and her father visited Sootopolis City to attend a special Pokémon Super Contest hosted by the local Gym Leader, Wallace, and hosting many different water-type Pokémon and techniques. Kathy and her father sat amongst the crowd to spectate the event. It was there where Kathy felt a spark within herself. She couldn’t quite put her finger on why, but Kathy felt enamored of the beauty, grace, and coordination between a Pokémon Coordinator and their Pokémon. Thus, after the contest and a meeting with both Wallace and his niece, Lisia, Kathy decided that she wanted to become a Pokémon Coordinator one day.
The news didn’t sit well with much of her home.
Many of the villagers protested against her decision. Adults called her efforts fruitless and a waste of time and potential. Children teased her on her decision to not follow the local tradition and become someone special. Even some members of the council worked to redirect Kathy into something more fitting for someone of her lineage, hoping to find something else for her and for Goomy to strive for. Kathy soon became discouraged from the village and began to distance herself from many of its members because of it; however, there were still three people that she looked to despite it all: her father, mother, and the Elder. Kathy’s parents approved of her decision. They allowed her to watch contests and learn about them in secret. The Elder, on the other hand, continued to be there for her no matter her decision. She claimed that it was better for her to have passion for something that was different and not unnecessarily harmful for herself and her Pokémon than to not have passion at all.
Kathy was supported by her mother and father until their eventual deaths a few years ago. One day, while away for a trip, the two were involved in an accident, causing them to fall in Mt. Chimney and perish. Orphaned and isolated, Kathy was devastated by the news, losing almost all ambition in life. Worse yet, at first, the only villagers who seemed to want to help her were those who didn’t want to care for her as a person until the recent tragedy. Thus, Kathy felt even more isolated than before, too afraid to become motivated again.
Then, there was a phone call, and a surprise visit.
Kathy’s aunt, Marisa “Lady” Wyvern, returned to the village from a distant region. After hearing the news, she swiftly returned to the Hoenn region to visit her niece. Kathy and Lady Wyvern spoke for some time, before Lady Wyvern offered Kathy a way out: to come to live with her in the Kalos Region, and to learn and figure out what to do from there. She promised that she’ll give Kathy the space that she needs while also caring for her and her Pokémon. Kathy reluctantly obliged and the two of them left the village to live in Lady Wyvern’s home in the region. There, she spent 2 years under Lady Wyvern’s wing, learning more about Pokémon battles and helping around the place.
Two years later, a dispute broke out between Kathy and Lady Wyvern. Little is known outside of them, but a battle broke out between the two of them. Kathy lost the battle, and, afterwards, she ran away from the Kalos region and returned to the Hoenn region, where she works to grow stronger as herself and participate in contests as Mikoto.
