Goblins are a common but varied species throughout the world of Auresia, with different heritages from one land to the next. While the ones known to Garrond are typically short of stature and considered--to put it most politely--rambunctious, they are fecund, clever, and resourceful, which allows them to flourish as flexible communities, whether remote and independent villages far from the eyes of the kingdom, nomadic hunters or caravans, or even plying trades and ducking between ankles in the major cities. However, in isolated locales where resources are more scarce, goblins are often seen as menaces as they will fight viciously to claim what their communities need to grow.
Out in the new world, a distant relative of the goblins have been recently discovered. Called "imps" among their own, these forest-dwelling sylvan goblins are taller and more lithe than their cousins dwelling in the mountains and the plains throughout the world, and bear a thin coat of fur to boot. However, in the vast forests where predators await in anbush from every corner, these goblins developed a skittish disposition but also the tools to survive, with deft tails and bark-gripping claws that allow them to retreat to shelter in the tall canopies.
