Maintenance Interstices are the interconnected internal portion and conceptual space of modern Arcology (Building) structure, modeled after Fosterite design. In Fosterite Arcology, the Interstices are designed for the dimensions of the racial castes assigned to their maintenance, almost invariably Delta Sector & Omega Sector. Many other movements in Arcology (e.g., Marxist Arcology) sought to eliminate the physical manifestations of racial apartheid, and as such the interstices are made generally accessible or eliminated entirely, with infrastructure accessible to public locations.
