Etarauri is a land of mystery, intrigue, and steampunk technology. Located entirely in a vast, sprawling desert, the country is divided into two main regions by a river of quicksand. Despite its harsh environment, Etarauri has managed to develop advanced steampunk technology that has made it a hub for trade, innovation, and creativity.

The two main regions of Etarauri are Is Sahasi and Ticaret Yolu. Is Sahasi is a region filled with ancient ruins and settlements nestled amidst sprawling sand dunes. The mining settlements of Is Sahasi struggle to dig into the ground due to the sand, but they have developed technology to manage some of their farms. The ground here is mostly dry with dunes, and the main attraction of the region is the large skeleton of an extinct race. In the shadow of these bones, many nefarious figures have made their life. The region is also home to the Gok Gurultusu Station, which guards the skies and helps transport ore and products between regions and the capital.

Ticaret Yolu, to the east, is mostly empty, filled with trade routes and travelling caravans. This region experiences many tremors and earthquakes, and there is a myth of a large sprawling labyrinth underneath the sand dunes. The only town in the region, Gorunmez Kasaba, is a center point for exports and imports in the country. The town deals with earthquakes by using a unique building style, with low-slung, sturdy buildings made from local materials. The town is known for its lodgings and inns. The region is also home to the mysterious underground labyrinth, rumored to be the source of the earthquakes.

Despite not having an official university, any engineer from Etarauri is highly sought after, and experience working in the capital city of Kilitli Sehir is valuable as any degree around the world. The heart of Etarauri is the capital city, Kilitli Sehir, a grand metropolis with towering minarets and ornate palaces. It is a city of contrasts, with bustling bazaars and grand mosques juxtaposed against towering factories and airship ports. The city is the center of the country's economy, with a thriving trade industry fueled by the caravans that traverse the harsh desert routes of Ticaret Yolu.

The steampunk technology that permeates Etarauri is used for both industrial and military purposes. The country is a leader in steam-powered airships, and their military forces are formidable with the use of steam-powered weapons and vehicles. Despite the advanced technology, the country is a theocracy, with the governing body known as the Assembly of the Elect. Religion coexists with technology, and the two are intricately intertwined. The ornate mosques of Kilitli Sehir are often powered by steam engines, and the religious leaders are also revered as scientists and inventors.

The economy of Etarauri is largely driven by trade, with many goods passing through the country's ports and trade routes. The country is one of the allies of Buon, and their strong economic ties have helped both countries prosper. Visitors to Etarauri can also experience the rich cultural heritage, including the unique Etaurian cuisine, ornate mosques, and intricate carpet weaving.

In addition to the two main regions, Etaurari has many other notable locations, such as the abandoned Ghost Town of Goktepe. Overall, Etarauri is a fascinating and unique country filled with diverse landscapes, advanced technology, and a rich cultural heritage.

The people of Etarauri take great pride in their achievements in technology, from the airships that soar through the skies to the steam-powered factories that produce goods for export.

One of the most notable feats of technology in Etarauri is the ability to farm in the desert. The country has long been plagued by arid landscapes, but through a combination of innovative irrigation techniques and specially designed crops, the people of Etarauri have managed to make the desert bloom. This has not only allowed the country to become self-sufficient in terms of food production but has also given rise to a thriving export market for agricultural products.

Despite their technological prowess, the people of Etarauri are deeply religious and place great importance on their faith. The country follows the god of lightning, Farador, and his teachings are woven into the fabric of everyday life. The temples of Farador are grand structures that dominate the skyline of many cities, and his followers are known for their devotion and piety.

In addition to its technological advancements and religious traditions, Etarauri is known for its stunning landscapes and unique attractions. The Is Sahasi region boasts ancient ruins and settlements, as well as the bones of an extinct race that have become a major tourist draw. Etarauri's economy is heavily dependent on exports, with the country's technological innovations driving demand for its goods around the world. The country is particularly known for its textiles, ceramics, and metalwork, and its trade routes are some of the busiest in the region. Overall, Etarauri is a country that blends a deep respect for tradition with a relentless drive for progress and innovation.

SOCIAL STRUCTURE

Etarauri is an oligarchy theocracy, meaning that it is ruled by a small group of religious leaders. The governing body is known as the Assembly of the Elect, and they hold significant power and influence over the country. The members of the Assembly are chosen through a complex process that involves both religious and political considerations. They are seen as both the spiritual and political leaders of the country.

The country is divided into administrative districts, each of which is overseen by a governor appointed by the Assembly. The governors are responsible for managing the affairs of their district, including the collection of taxes and the maintenance of law and order.

Beneath the governors are a variety of other officials and bureaucrats who manage the day-to-day operations of the country. These include tax collectors, judges, and other functionaries. The bureaucracy is known for its complexity and rigidity, with strict rules and regulations governing every aspect of life in the country.

At the bottom of the social structure are the common people, who are often farmers, artisans, or labourers. Despite the significant influence of the religious and political leaders, the common people still have a strong sense of community and often rely on each other for support. The country's emphasis on technology has allowed many of the common people to prosper, as they have been able to use advanced farming techniques to grow crops in the harsh desert environment.

ECONOMY

Etarauri's economy is based on its advanced technology and expert craftsmanship, particularly in the field of mechanical engineering and smithing. The country's skilled artisans and engineers design and manufacture a wide range of mechanical devices, from weapons and armor to steam-powered machines and vehicles. These products are in high demand by other countries, particularly those with less advanced technology, making trade a major source of income for Etarauri.

Despite its relatively small size and lack of natural resources, Etarauri has managed to thrive economically due to its specialization in advanced technology and high-quality craftsmanship. However, it's important to note that the country's success is also due in part to its alliance with the Buon Empire. The two nations have a close relationship, with Etarauri supplying the Buon Militia with top-of-the-line weapons and technology.

In addition to exports, Etarauri's economy also benefits from its location on major trade routes. The town at the oasis serves as a hub for imports and exports, with caravans and traders passing through regularly. The inns and lodgings in the town are also a source of income, as many travelers stop to rest and resupply before continuing on their journey.

Overall, Etarauri's economy is heavily dependent on its technology and craftsmanship, as well as its relationship with the Buon Empire. Despite these factors, the country has managed to establish itself as a major player in the world economy, thanks to its advanced knowledge and skilled workforce.

DEMOGRAPHICS

The most prominent of these are the sand nymphs, who have lived in the desert for centuries and are known for their harmonious relationship with the harsh environment. They are skilled in desert survival and are often sought after as guides by travellers.

The other significant non-human populations are the beastmen and herpetoids, who have their own distinct tribes scattered throughout the desert. These tribes are fiercely independent and have little to no interaction with the human and elven populations of the country. They survive by hunting and gathering and are known for their ferocity and cunning in battle.

The human and elven populations are mostly concentrated in the capital and the various towns scattered throughout the country. They tend to be more urbanized and involved in commerce and trade. The humans and elves of Etarauri are known for their technological and engineering prowess and are responsible for the country's reputation as the most technologically advanced nation in the world.

POLITICS

As previously mentioned, Etarauri is an oligarchy theocracy, with a governing body called the "Assembly of the Elect." This body is made up of a group of powerful and influential individuals who hold significant sway over the country's political decisions.

The country is ruled by the High Priest, who is the religious leader and the head of the Assembly of the Elect. The High Priest is considered to be the ultimate authority on matters of faith and is responsible for interpreting religious doctrine and guiding the country's religious practices.

The country's political landscape is heavily influenced by the country's powerful merchant class, who hold significant sway over the country's economy and trade relations. The merchants often lobby the government for favourable policies that will benefit their businesses, and they are known to have significant influence over the Assembly of the Elect.

Despite its oligarchic structure, Etarauri's political system is known for its stability and efficiency, with decisions being made quickly and decisively by the Assembly of the Elect. The country's religious beliefs play a significant role in shaping its political landscape, with religious leaders and doctrines guiding the country's policies and decision-making processes.

MILITARY

Etarauri has a small but highly trained and technologically advanced military. Its soldiers are equipped with the latest weapons and armour designed and produced by the country's skilled engineers and blacksmiths.

Due to its oligarchic government structure, the military is under the direct control of the Assembly of the Elect, with the highest-ranking generals being appointed by the ruling council. Despite its small size, the Etarauri military is renowned for its efficiency and effectiveness in battle.

In addition to its conventional military forces, Etarauri also has a special forces unit known as the Thunder Brigade. This elite unit is trained to operate in the harshest desert conditions and is often called upon to carry out special missions, such as sabotage, reconnaissance, and hostage rescue.

Overview of Etaraurian History

Etarauri's history is a rich tapestry of conquest, innovation, and religious fervour. Its origins can be traced back to a group of nomadic tribes that settled in the region over a millennium ago. These tribes were known for their skills in agriculture and animal husbandry, as well as their devout worship of the god of lightning, Farador.

As the centuries passed, Etarauri grew into a powerful city-state, and eventually, an oligarchy theocracy. It was during this time that Etarauri began to develop its reputation for technological advancement. The city-state's scholars and engineers poured their efforts into developing new machinery, weapons, and other devices that would help them survive in the harsh desert environment.

This technological prowess was put to the test when the Buon Empire, which had recently conquered the surrounding lands, approached Etarauri for help in utilizing the metal resources that had been acquired from the fallen giants of The Titanomachy. Etarauri agreed to help, in exchange for Buon's support in conquering Lunumia, a country populated by avian beings that Etarauri's high priest had become obsessed with.

Buon and Etarauri's successful invasion of Lunumia, known as 'The Rape of Lunumia', cemented their alliance for the next two hundred years. Etarauri's technological proficiency flourished during this time, as they were able to concentrate their efforts on research and development without worrying about exports, thanks to their partnership with Buon.

Despite their success, Etarauri's society was far from perfect. The oligarchy theocracy was plagued by corruption and inequality, with the ruling Assembly of the Elect often abusing their power. Meanwhile, the lower classes struggled to make ends meet, with many turning to crime and black market dealings to survive.

Despite these challenges, Etarauri continued to thrive as a centre of technological innovation and a major player in regional politics. Its military, though small, was feared for its advanced weaponry and tactics. And the city-state's population remained diverse, with sand nymphs, beastmen, herpetoids, humans, and elves all calling Etarauri home.
