Hades's Belief in Kord

Inspired by Polynesian religious practices.

Kord to Hades: Kord has never spoken to Hades Asteron, at least to Hades's knowledge, but has granted him abilities out of Hades's devotion & feats in battle. Hades believes that even the smaller things he does everyday help Kord's power empower him, like eating food, exercise, and accept every challenge with valor. Since Kord is the God of War, Strength, and Valor, Hades believes that anyone can be a follower of Kord as long as they continue to live & desire to improve themselves.

Manifestations of Kord's Power to Hades:

  • During a Katori funeral ceremony for Lenakar Moonshadow in the Everbright Glade, Hades had performed a ritual dance (haka) for the fallen warrior & Kord had honored the warrior with a bolt of lightning, leaving a shard of Soul Forged glass where it landed.
  • Manipulation of lightning:
    • During the defense of Drelin's Ferry, Kord shot lightning through Titanslayer as Hades plunged the blade into a river frozen over by a white dragon, clearing the ice bridge that had been formed & halting the encroaching enemy forces.
    • During the Siege of Brindol, Kord granted Hades the ability to channel the lightning from the storm above to destroy an entire wave of the enemy vanguard.
    • During the party's hunt for Azarr Kul, Kord granted Hades the ability to channel the lightning from the storm above to clear the oncoming enemy hobgoblins so the party could continue forward.
    • On multiple occasions, Hades has been able to shoot a spark of lightning at his foes
  • (Maybe?) Titanslayer returned to Hades in a bolt of lightning during the climax of the Siege of Brindol

Hades's perception of Magic: Hades has heard little of but is curious about his ancestors' fight against Conclave on the Isle Toro. He has however fought alongside Immerstal, the Red, tried to survive the attacks of the High March mages, and witnessed the terrifying powers of The Ghostlord. Hades knows the magic they employ is a powerful tool. However, he thinks of it as separate from the abilities that Kord grants him & maintains an unease with his enemies' uses of magic.
