The rule of Three, and the reign of one.

The Triarchy of Terram was a period in the history of the continent that spanned several centuries. It began in the year 1520AT, when Terram was unified under the rule of three Triarchs. Each Triarch represented one of the three aspects of The Triarchic Warrior, the Triarchic Mage, and the Triarchic King. They ruled over the three regions of Terram: Northlands, Midland, and The Crownlands.

The Triarchs maintained a delicate balance of power, with each aspect holding equal importance. The aspect of the King was particularly significant, as it was linked to the Ruby Throne, a symbol of authority and power. The Ruby Throne was passed from one Triarch to another when the aspect of the King changed.

For many years, the Triarchy ensured stability and unity across the continent. However, in the year 1705AT, a powerful individual emerged who possessed all three aspects of the Triarchy. This individual, known as the Lone Triarch, claimed sole control over the continent. The other Triarchs abdicated, giving this person complete authority.

Under the Lone Triarch and their descendants, Terram was ruled by a single entity for an extended period. However, over time, the influence of the Ruby Throne began to corrupt and distort their rule. It became clear that the power of the Ruby Throne should be shared and not concentrated in one person.

In 2020AT, the 13th and final Lone Triarch, known as the Terror Triarch, faced a rebellion from the North. In a desperate attempt to defend their position, the Terror Triarch used the power of the Ruby Throne to split the continent into two. The Crownlands were lifted high into the air, creating The Great Rift that separated it from the rest of Terram, Midland became known as the Riftlands.

The defeat of the Terror Triarch at the hands of their former bodyguard Varang the Stormcleaver of Crimson Shield marked the end of the Triarchy of Terram. With the continent liberated from tyranny, independent countries emerged in the divided land. The Triarchy became a significant chapter in Terram's history, representing a time of both unity and subsequent division.
