Murkwell was a important trading town between the Rifthold Republic and the Northlands of Terram. Trade from The Kingdom of Soria and Icemeet flowed from the north into the Republic trough Murkwell.
To the south of Murkwell lies a stone bridge witch Murkwell had a toll post as well as a road following the river east towards the Winged lake. The Town was surrounded by sturdy wooden palisades with guard towers at each of the towns three gates. In the middle of the town square is a large stone well, from witch the town have gained its name.
During the month of Palesun in 2800 AT The town was besieged and burned down by a army of Duergar who travel trough the area on their way to besiege the dwarven hold Icemeet. Only ruins and the remains of the wooden walls now stand around the Old Well.
