The Life of Mystarra

Biography

Myst, an Astral Elf hailing from the Xaryxian Empire, led a life filled with intrigue, adventure, and the pursuit of arcane and psionic mastery. As a Psionic Rogue and Chronomancer Wizard, she combined her natural Elven grace with her formidable mental abilities, making her a formidable force to be reckoned with.

From a young age, Myst displayed prodigious talent in both Psionics and Wizardry. Trained in the esteemed Magic Academy of Xaryxis, she honed her mind to harness incredible Psychic powers, allowing her to manipulate energy, read thoughts, and bend reality to her will. Her Psionic abilities, coupled with her razor-sharp intellect, made her a formidable strategist and infiltrator.

In addition to her mastery of Psionics, Myst delved deep into the arcane arts as a Wizard. Through tireless study and rigorous training, she developed a wide array of spellcasting abilities, allowing her to wield powerful spells and weave intricate magic. Her versatility in both offensive and defensive spells made her a valuable asset in battles and dangerous encounters.

Myst's loyalty lay with the Xaryxian Empire, and she dedicated herself to serving its interests. As a member of the Imperial Intelligence, she undertook covert missions, gathering vital information, and eliminating threats to her homeland. Her skills in stealth, subterfuge, and illusion allowed her to navigate treacherous political landscapes and infiltrate enemy strongholds undetected.

Throughout her life, Myst embarked on numerous quests and adventures, often venturing into the uncharted realms of Wildspace. Guided by her insatiable thirst for knowledge and exploration, she sought to uncover hidden secrets and discover new realms.

But Myst's journey was not without its challenges and adversaries. She faced dangerous creatures, rival factions, and ancient mysteries that tested her skills and resolve. Yet, her indomitable spirit and unwavering determination always led her through the darkest of trials.

As Myst's powers grew, so did her understanding of the delicate balance between light and shadow, order and chaos. She embraced the duality within herself, utilizing her abilities to protect the innocent and uphold justice while also delving into the depths of forbidden knowledge and walking the fine line between morality and temptation.

Ultimately, Myst's story is one of self-discovery, as she navigates the complex web of politics, Cosmic power, and her own internal conflicts. Her journey is marked by her unwavering pursuit of truth, her relentless quest for personal growth, and her unwavering dedication to safeguarding her people and the realms she holds dear.

Era of Origin

Myst's parents, Carric Enialis and Hatae Xeilexti, were an unlikely couple in the eyes of many in the Xaryxian Empire’s Imperial Citadel Court. Carric was a politician and Celestial Commander of a Xaryxian Armada, while Hatae was the daughter of an aristocratic House interwoven closely into the Emperor’s family lines. Despite their differences, they fell deeply in love and spent years engaging in a secret passionate affair until it was announced that Hatae Xeilexti would be arranged to marry a Duke close to the Emperor to join Interstellar Houses under the Light of Xaryxis. Instead, they defied the expectations of their respective families by eloping and fleeing to the planet Xaryndar in Xaryxispace where they would later raise their daughter in the Old Ways.

Carric Enialis was a cunning bureaucrat and general, with a reputation for being a shrewd strategist and an inspiring commander. Despite the scandal of stealing an aristocratic house’s daughter his value to the expansion of the Xaryxian Empire, and the Emperor himself, sheltered him from retribution. Though the memories of Astral Elves and their Interstellar Houses are long, so he always knew that his love for Hatae would curse him as a marked man forever after. He was devoted to his wife and daughter, and he believed that the Old Ways of the Astral Elves held important lessons for their society. He taught Myst the art of military strategy from a young age, and he encouraged her to develop her own skills as a Spelljammer and combatant.

Hatae Xeilexti was a gifted Sorcerer who had bonded with an Ancient Solar Dragon named Ligprenay, also known as the Queen of Light. She was fiercely protective of her daughter, and she ensured that Myst received the best possible education in magic and the arcane arts. Hatae became deeply committed to the Old Ways through her husband’s family, and she taught Myst to connect with the natural world and to appreciate the power of the Silver Void.

Together, Carric and Hatae were a formidable team, her parents used time outside the Astral Sea and sacrificed a part of their vitality to bring a child into the world. Truly an act of love on the part of both parents. They raised Myst with love and care, instilling in her a deep sense of purpose and a commitment to justice and equality. Despite the challenges they faced as a couple from different worlds, they remained loyal to each other and to their daughter, and their love was a powerful force that shaped Myst's character and helped her to become the formidable leader that she is.

  • The Old Ways

Myst spent most of her childhood on the planet Xaryndar, away from Xaryxian Court. Despite her mother’s disowned lineage, they were able to provide a comfortable upbringing for their daughter in a large house in the capital Kingdom on the lush planet. Myst grew up as an only child, but she had several friends of various backgrounds who would often visit and play with her.

Myst was fascinated by the construction of the Star Moth Spelljammer ships, which were built on the planet using the crystal-leaf trees grown there. She would often watch the ships being built with great interest and would sometimes even lend a helping hand, fetching tools and materials for the builders. She loved the idea of a ship being a living organism, nurtured and cared for by its crew. She loved to see their twinkling lights in the night sky.

Myst was also taught the Old Ways by her parents, which included an understanding of the natural world and its connection to the magic of Dragons. She was fascinated by the intelligent plants that grew on Xaryndar, some of which were mischevious creatures in their own right. She learned about the flora and fauna of the planet and to live harmoniously with them. All of the Xaryxian Empire’s agricultural needs are answered by Xaryndar. She spent some time visiting the planet Rivus to see the Platinum, found in alluvial deposits and originating from ultra-mafic igneous rocks, be gathered.

  • The Court Academy

As she grew older, Myst began to show a talent for magic, which earned her a place at the Imperial Citadel’s Academy to study under the tutelage of Ligprenay the Queen of Light. The Ancient Solar Dragon was impressed by the prodigy and took her under her wing, imbuing Myst's spellbook with sunlight by scorching it with radiant dragon's breath – marking the script unreadable by anyone but Myst and Ligprenay. This allowed Myst to master the arcane arts at a young age and become a favorite at Court, and reawakened discussions and Court rumors of Myst honoring her mother’s arranged marriage union instead.

However, not everyone was pleased with Myst's success. Antirie Xilofete, a female Astral Elf aristocrat, became Myst's rival and tried to undermine her at every turn. Antirie was from the Xilofete House, which had a longstanding political rivalry with the Xeilexti House. When Myst’s mother and father wed it weakened the standing of the Xeilexti House, and Antirie saw Myst's success as a new threat to her own House finally gaining the upper hand. Despite the rivalry, Myst's childhood was generally a happy one. She loved her parents and the world around her, and she was eager to learn all that she could about Wildspaces and magic.

When she became old enough to set out on her own, she did so to learn more magic and expand her power under her father’s tutelage to become a capable general through maneuver warfare. As she adventured, a marriage was arranged by the royal family and she spent chaperoned time with her betrothed until his untimely death in an accident at his House’s estates. Nothing was able to be recovered from the ashes to provide answers on what happened.

Haunted by the loss of her betrothed she didn’t get the chance to fully know, Myst threw herself into her studies and became even more determined to master Spelljammer technology and military tactics. She also became increasingly interested in uncovering the truth about her betrothed's death and began to investigate the incident on her own. This often made her cross paths with Antirie Xilofete, who was becoming a deadly femme fatale of the Court with shadowed intentions and dark intricacies. Everywhere she went it seemed like Antirie, now with an Assassin alter ego named “Firepetal”, was one step ahead and one dagger behind.

  • The Court Magister

Magister Theraxana is one of the most brilliant and knowledgeable Sorcerers of the Great Orrery in the Imperial Citadel. Her expertise in the study of Wildspace and the Astral Sea is unparalleled, and she spends most of her time studying and conducting research in the Great Orrery's many libraries and laboratories.

Despite her academic pursuits, Theraxana has a dark side. She has been known to dabble in illegal experimentation, using forbidden magic and components to conduct dangerous and unethical research. She is not above making deals with smugglers and other unsavory characters to obtain the materials she needs for her experiments.

When Myst stumbled upon her secret dealings with the Moon Shadow Guild, Theraxana knew she had to act quickly to protect her reputation and her research. Using her Aberrant Mind magic, she modified Myst's memory, erasing all knowledge of her illegal activities and convincing her that she had simply misunderstood what she had seen. She couldn't make the recent favorite at Court disappear, but she also couldn't allow the young Elf's father, Carric Enialis know what is truly going on in the capitol.

Theraxana's position as a Magistrate in the Great Orrery gives her access to some of the most advanced and sophisticated magical equipment in the Xaryxian Empire. She is particularly interested in the ring of twelve Spelljamming Helms that power the Citadel, and has made it her life's work to study and improve upon this incredible technology.

Despite her flaws and questionable moral character, Theraxana is respected and admired by many of her colleagues in the Xaryxian Court for her incredible intellect and academic achievements. Her contributions to the study of Wildspace and the Astral Sea have helped to advance the knowledge and understanding of the Empire's most important scholars and scientists.

Era of Moonlight

The Firepetal was everything Myst wasn’t and then some. She was faster, sharper, more ambitious and endlessly driven. One skirmish between the two led Myst to fleeing to an outlier moon in a pocket Wildspace, almost crashing through the celestial body in her Star Moth Spelljammer spaceship. As Myst explored the moon, she stumbled upon a vast cavern filled with sparkling gems, precious metals and ancient artifacts. It was there that she met Shanneth Ruahir, the Foreverstar. At first she was terrified, for she had heard tales of Lunar Dragons who were known to be unpredictable from the Xaryxian Solar Dragon history tomes. However, as she watched him, she realized that he was different from what she had heard.

The Foreverstar, was an Ancient Lunar Dragon who had seen many things in his long life. He was known for his love of treasure, and he hoarded the most precious items from across the cosmos. When he first encountered Myst, he was intrigued by her bravery and cunning. Most creatures would not dare to cross paths with a Dragon of his age and might, but Myst had a spark in her that caught his attention. Shanneth Ruahir was a creature of great wisdom and power, with a keen interest in all things related to the stars and moons.

He was fascinated by Myst's Star Moth Spelljammer ship and her stories of the crystal-leaf trees that grew on the planet Xaryndar. At first, he had considered eating Myst for awakening him and trespassing into his lair. But something about her had made him pause, and he decided to spare her life instead. He was curious to see what she would do next, and Myst did not disappoint. She offered him a legendary Astral helm from a living ship called "Star Runner" in exchange for the opportunity of earning his favor over time. Myst knew that such a gift would be greatly coveted by any Lunar Dragon, and she was glad that she could offer him something of value.

  • The Eternal Moon

Shanneth Ruahir was impressed by the gift and the cleverness of the young Elf. It had been a long time since he had stalked the Shadows of the Moons. He had suffered an injury that is a severe vulnerability should any other Dragons find him, so he has had to rely on his fearsome reputation he had built for eons to keep his territory clear of outsiders. He considered keeping her in his hoard as his consort, where he could whisper teachings about the stars and the secrets of the cosmos that would give her untold power to wield beside him.

Ultimately, he deemed to give her more time amongst the Silver Void so long as she came back and shared her stories and brought him treasure she found on her travels through the planes. The Foreverstar had endless time to woo his Elven 'Moonlight', to where one day she would stay of her own accord. Their relationship would become a strange one, but it worked for both of them. Myst learned much from the Ancient Dragon, and he was never bored with her around. She was a reminder of the excitement and unpredictability of the Cosmos, something that he had long forgotten.

Myst never forgot the debt she owed Shanneth Ruahir, and she continued to seek out the most precious treasures in the universe to offer him. Her travels brought her to distant planets and dangerous realms, but she always returned to the Lunar Dragon with something of worth. In return, Shanneth Ruahir would spend time with her in his less frightening human guise and provide her with valuable information that would help her achieve her destiny. A destiny, he was sure, would ultimately be eternally with him…

  • The Demonic Temptress

During her travels, she met a group of adventurers who shared her desire to uncover the truth and fight against injustice in the world. Together, they embarked on various quests and missions, facing many challenges and obstacles along the way. Myst proved herself to be a capable leader, using her military knowledge and her mastery of magic to guide her companions through difficult situations. Through this, she fell in love with the beguiling Misfaris, a Bard of the College of Eloquence that goes by her Tiefling name of “Beauty”. Misfaris always seemed to keep her secrets close to the chest, wearing a Charlatan guise with the rest of the world through her captivating performances and skillful words.

Misfaris was drawn to Myst's subterfuge abilities and her easy confidence, while Myst was enchanted by Misfaris' charm and acid wit. They quickly became close friends, spending long hours discussing their shared passion for exploits and exploration. As they grew closer, their feelings for each other deepened. At least, Myst’s feelings did. Misfaris was hesitant to commit to a romantic relationship, as she knew that her lifespan as a Tiefling was limited compared to that of an immortal Astral Elf. But despite their reservations, they found themselves drawn to each other time and time again. They shared many adventures together, exploring the planes and discovering new worlds.

However, their wanderlust and lack of commitment eventually caused a rift between them. Misfaris would disappear for months at a time without explanation, leaving Myst feeling hurt and confused. And although they possibly had intense feelings for each other, they were both unwilling to make any promises or commitments that they could not keep.

In the end, they parted ways, with Misfaris continuing her travels and Myst dedicating herself to her destiny. But even after they went their separate ways, Myst could not forget the beguiling Tiefling who had captured her heart. She knew that Misfaris would die long before she truly lived, but she still held onto the hope that they might one day find their way back to each other.

Era of Disaster

The Reaver attack on Xaryndar was a devastating event that left Myst and her peaceful community traumatized. The Reavers were a band of vicious marauders that roamed the Astral Sea, attacking ships and settlements indiscriminately. Reavers are believed to be men that went insane at the edge of space and became savage. They stared into the void beyond and became what they saw: nothing. They gave into their primal nature and all that was civilized was discarded. They were known for their brutal tactics and their thirst for blood and treasure. Their aggression and primal instincts boosted beyond simple madness into murderous rage, sadism and savagery.

Myst was at home when the attack occurred. She had been studying ancient tomes in her family's library when she heard the sounds of chaos and destruction outside. She looked out the window and saw the Reavers descending upon her city, their ships cutting through the air like sharks through water. The Xaryxian Armada burned, unmanned in the distance in the sea.

Her parents were off planet at the Imperial Citadel, Myst herself was lucky to escape with her life. She managed to hide in a secret compartment in her family's home while the Reavers ransacked the place. When she emerged hours later, she found the kingdom in ruins. The experience left a deep scar on Myst's psyche, and it fueled her desire for revenge against those who had destroyed her world. It also made her more cautious and resourceful, as she knew that danger could strike at any moment in the treacherous Astral Sea.

  • The Dreadful Pirate

After the Reaver attack on her community, Myst found herself without a home or any possessions. She was desperate and vulnerable, and it was at this point that a series of unfortunate events led to her being press-ganged by pirates. Press-ganging is a common practice in the Astral Sea, where unsuspecting individuals are kidnapped or forcibly recruited into the crews of pirate ships. Myst was taken aboard the ship of Uramak The Dreadful, a Scro Orc who was infamous for his brutality and feared across the Wildspaces of the Astral Sea.

At first, Myst was kept as a captive and treated cruelly by the pirate crew who delighted in having such a high value captive as an Astral Elf. Myst was forced to serve the pirate crew and was made to do all kinds of demeaning tasks until she was seen by the Captain and shifted to the Captain’s Quarters. He was able to discern her full capabilities and magical talents very quickly, which he immediately attempted to use in his raids. Those that had tortured her, he booted off his ship into the void, just to make a point on the new pecking order.

Over time, Uramak grew fond of her and began to see her as his personal property, possessively calling her his "Little Star Witch". She was also subjected to Uramak's advances, which she vehemently rejected, which amused and thrilled him further. Despite her efforts to resist, she knew that she was trapped and had no way out. Myst lived a miserable existence aboard the pirate ship, constantly plotting her escape. But decades can burn even the fiercest resolve.

Even in the face of her defiance, he didn’t ‘break her’ as he liked her fiery spirit, though she quickly found that there were far worse things in the Silver Void than him and she assisted him in battle out of necessity sometimes. After exacting a promise from him that he would no longer raid innocents and civilians, she submitted to his gratification and became the “Howling Ghost” Spelljammer. As he won battle after battle with her expertise, he became enraptured with her and didn’t leash her freedoms so tightly. He felt confident that whatever she could want, he could provide without consideration of his abusive behavior.

With a stroke of luck and the assistance of the Circle of Stars Druid, Sovenis Galadur the Twilightwhisper, she was able to slip away during a raid on another ship and flee into the Astral Sea. As for Uramak the Dreadful, Myst knows that he will stop at nothing to find her and bring her back under his control. She lives in fear of being found, and is constantly looking over her shoulder, never staying in one place for too long. She knows that she must find a way to clear the debts she owes to Twilightwhisper, before she can truly be free.

  • The Raven Queen

Myst had been traveling through a particularly dark and twisted corner of the Astral Sea, seeking refuge from the “Howling Ghost”. As she was navigating through the eerie mists, a group of Shadar-Kai suddenly appeared out of nowhere, jumping her without warning. Myst tried to fight back with her magic, but the Shadar-Kai were too quick for her. They overpowered her and stole a valuable artifact from her possession, a platinum locket that had been passed down in her family for generations.

The Shadar-Kai explained that they were acting on behalf of the Raven Queen, and that the locket was needed for a special ritual that would help her maintain her power over the Shadowfell. Myst was outraged that her family heirloom would be used in such a way, but there was nothing she could do to stop them. Determined to get the locket back, Myst set off on a mission to infiltrate the Raven Queen's stronghold. She used her knowledge of the Astral Sea to navigate through the dangerous currents and find the hidden entrance to the Fortress of Memories, surrounded by the Shadowfell.

Once inside, Myst remained undetected as she searched for the Shadar-Kai who had stolen her locket. It wasn't long before she found them, performing the ritual. Myst waited until the ritual was complete before striking, launching a surprise attack on the Shadar-Kai and managing to snatch the locket from their grasp. She then used her magic to escape the stronghold and return to her ship, satisfied that she had retrieved her family heirloom and thwarted the Raven Queen's plans.

But the Raven Queen is not one to be trifled with, and Myst knows that her actions may have earned the ire of one of the most dangerous entities in the shadows. She remains vigilant, knowing that she may be called upon again to face the wrath of the Raven Queen.

  • The Indecipherable Oracle

As Myst reflects on her encounter with the Shadar-Kai and their theft of her magical pendant, she begins to feel a nagging sense of unease. Something about the situation doesn't add up, but she can't quite put her finger on it. Days turn into weeks and weeks turn into months as Myst continues her sailing across the boundless trek of the Astral Sea. She grows stronger with each passing day, mastering new spells and unlocking the secrets of the Cosmos.

But all the while, a tiny voice in the back of her mind whispers that something is wrong. It's as if a piece of her is missing, but she can't quite remember what that missing piece is.

It's not until much later, when she encounters an indecipherable Oracle who can allegedly read the threads of fate, that the truth is revealed. The oracle tells her that the Raven Queen had not only stolen her pendant but had also taken a something critical from her possession without her even realizing it. Though the Oracle just smirked when Myst demanded to know what it was.

Myst is stunned. How could she have been so blind? She realizes that the Raven Queen must have used her dark powers to cloud her mind and hide the theft from her. The locket was dual purpose, serving as the anchor to the ritual and drawing Myst herself into the divine realm of the Raven Queen.

Furious and feeling violated, Myst vows to track down the Raven Queen and retrieve what is rightfully hers. But as she delves deeper into the mystery, she begins to realize that the Raven Queen's motives may be far more labyrinthine than she ever imagined.

Era of Discord

The Neogi, a race of spiderlike xenophobic slavers, had been targeting and capturing innocent travelers for some time. Myst had heard of their heinous deeds and was determined to take a detour and put an end to their terror. When she saw the Neogi Deathspider spaceship hovering above an inhabitable planet, she knew it was her chance to do just that.

Myst's Damselfly Spelljammer spaceship was small and nimble, perfect for dodging the Nightspider's powerful weapons. The two ships clashed in a violent aerial battle, lasers and missiles flying everywhere. The Neogi were fierce opponents, attempting to trap Myst's Spelljamming Helm and draw her in closer. But Myst was a skilled pilot, and she managed to avoid the traps and return fire. With each blast, the Nightspider's armor weakened, and it became clear that Myst was gaining the upper hand. Finally, with a final, powerful blast, the Nightspider battle deck exploded into a ball of fire.

Myst had won the battle and boarded the vessel, but not without a cost. The Spelljammer of that ship had formed a Warlock pact with Acamar and was attempting to become a Star Spawn before Myst killed it. The dying Neogi Spelljammer had cursed her in the name of Thrig'ki, the Neogi lesser deity of Jealousy, which is the Neogi's understanding of Love, with its dying breath. Myst felt a shiver run down her spine as she realized the curse's potential impact on her life. But then something unexpected happened. A Gray Render, a powerful creature that had refused to bond with a Neogi Master, approached her. It seemed to recognize something in Myst, and despite its previous experiences with the Neogi, it attempted to form a bond with her.

  • The Bonded Render

Myst was hesitant at first, but she could see the creature's intelligence and power. The creature looked at her with pleading eyes, hoping for a connection that it had never found with its previous Neogi Masters. But Myst knew that she could not accept the bond, not after everything she had been through with Uramak and the pirates. She gently pushed the Gray Render away and explained to it that she could not be its master. The creature let out a sad whimper before slowly walking away, disappearing into the shadows. Myst felt a pang of guilt for rejecting the creature, but she knew that it was the right decision.

After the battle, Myst discovered that the Neogi had been keeping slaves on board their ship. She freed them and helped them find a new home on the planet where the battle had taken place. It was a small victory in the grand scheme of things, but for Myst, it was a reminder of who she was meant to be.

As she turned to leave the planet, she couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. It wasn't until she was back on her ship, scanning the area for any sign of danger, that she realized what it was. The curse from the Neogi Warlock Spelljammer had taken hold, and she felt an overwhelming sense of jealousy. At first, she couldn't understand why she was feeling this way, but then she remembered the Gray Render. She realized that the curse had been transferred to the creature when it had attempted to bond with her, and now it was affecting her as well.

They were bonded, whether she had meant to or not. Scholars historically could not explain this strange behavior from an otherwise aggressive monster, but Gray Renders seemed to "adopt" these other creatures whether desired or not. Myst knew that she had to find a way to break the curse, for both their sakes, but she had no idea how to do so. She spent weeks searching through ancient tomes and seeking advice from other spacefaring adventurers while dodging the Gray Render that stalked her from a distance, but nothing seemed to work.

Finally, in a stroke of luck, she stumbled upon an old Astral Elf Wizard who had studied the ways of the Neogi. He told her of a ritual that could break the curse, but it was dangerous and required a sacrifice. Myst hesitated, but she knew that she had no choice. She prepared for the ritual and, with a heavy heart, sacrificed one of her most prized possessions. As the ritual ended and her locket disintegrated, she felt the curse lift from her, and she was filled with a sense of relief. Though she could not tell if the bond remained.

From that day on, Myst made a vow to always be cautious of the magic she encountered, knowing that even the smallest thing could have unexpected consequences. She also made a vow to never forget the Gray Render, hoping that one day it would find the bond it so desperately craved.

  • The Firepetal Assassin

Antirie Xilofete, also secretly operating as the alias the Firepetal, was a notorious Assassin and Smuggler who operated in the shadows of the city. She was well-connected and had a network of spies and informants that allowed her to stay ahead of the law. When the Firepetal was hired for an assassination job, she spitefully decided to use Myst as a distraction.

The Firepetal planted incriminating evidence on Myst, making it look like she was involved in smuggling illegal magical components used to enhance the performance of Spelljamming Helms. These components were highly sought after by unscrupulous spellcasters looking to gain an advantage in their spacefaring endeavors. The components themselves were difficult to obtain and required a significant amount of skill to use effectively. The accusation came as a shock to Myst, as she had no knowledge of such contraband items being present in her ship's cargo. She had always been careful to stay on the right side of the law, and being accused of such a serious crime had tarnished her reputation.

It was only after an exhaustive investigation by the authorities that it was revealed that the components had been planted on the ship. The authorities caught Myst and put her on trial, but she was able to prove her innocence and clear her name. However, Myst was left with a bitter taste in her mouth and a burning desire to get retribution. It appeared that Myst had been used as a pawn in a larger scheme, with the ultimate goal being the assassination of a prominent figure.

Over time, Myst began to gather evidence that suggested that the Firepetal was responsible for the death of her betrothed years earlier. She had always suspected that something was off about the accident, and the more she investigated, the more she became convinced that the Firepetal was the mastermind. Myst was determined to get to the bottom of it, but she knew that she had to be careful. The Firepetal was dangerous, and she had many powerful friends in high places who would do anything to protect her or who could be blackmailed into service. As Myst dug deeper into the case, she began to uncover a web of lies and deceit that stretched back years. It seemed that the Firepetal had been using her connections to cover up her misdeeds and stay one step ahead of the law. Myst knew that she had to be careful, but she was also determined to bring the Firepetal to justice and put an end to her reign of fire and blood…

  • The Guild Master

Myst has always been wary of the Moon Shadow Thieves Guild and its mysterious leader, Luthias Qinorin. She knows that their methods are often ruthless and that their loyalty lies only with themselves and their clients. She has managed to avoid their focused attention so far, but Luthias is becoming more insistent that she either joins their ranks or leaves the Rock of Bral.

Myst knows that joining the guild would mean compromising her values and working for those who seek to exploit and manipulate others. She has seen the damage that they can cause firsthand, and she refuses to be a part of it. But leaving the area is not an option for her either, as it would mean giving up her mission to uncover the truth about her betrothed's death and bringing the Firepetal Assassin to justice. It would mean limited conduits throughout the Astral Sea to reach key places, such as the upcoming Court of Stars in the Feywild. She has too many enemies that she must avoid, such as the Firepetal Assassin that seems to lurk within her shadow and the “Howling Ghost” that is ever on her heels.

Myst decides to confront Luthias and tell him that she will not join the Moon Shadow Guild ever, but that she also will not be restricted by him. She appeals to his sense of honor, hoping that he will understand that there are some things more important than money or power. To her surprise, Luthias agrees to let her stay in the area, but warns her that he will be watching her every move.

Myst knows that she has made a dangerous enemy in Luthias, but she also knows that she cannot let fear control her actions. She continues to search for clues about Antirie's involvement in her betrothed's death, knowing that the path ahead will be fraught with danger and uncertainty. But she is determined to uncover the truth, no matter the cost.

Era of Darkness

At no set schedule, the Archfey and their allies gather for a parliament and bacchanalia, merging their royal courts into one great congress called the Court of Stars. They spend the time negotiating, feasting, scheming, marrying, and betraying each other. The collected Court has no true leader, but it is hosted by the Fey Lady known as Titania, the Summer Queen. The Court of Stars drifted among the three layers of Arborea, only ever appearing at night. It could only be accessed with the express permission of the Queen, who was the only one able to open portals to and from the Court. Not even deities had access to this demiplane if she did not wish it. Portals to her realm could be found anywhere she wished, such as from Corellon Larethian's halls, below the ocean of Aquallor, or in Mithardir's sandy wilderness. It was also linked to the Gates of the Moon, Selûne's divine realm.

Over the centuries the signatories to the Court of Stars have aligned themselves into factions. These vie for influence in the Court, which translates into arcane power and territory out in the Feywild. Most Archfey and their followers count themselves as members of more than one faction, often supporting rival forces when it suits their purposes. Despite this chaotic mix of power, allegiances, ambition, and treachery, open conflict is rare in the Court of Stars. Favor is won through clever wordplay, duels using proxies, and ever-shifting schemes. Adventurers make useful cat’s-paws for Eladrin nobles. The remainder of the Court of Stars is composed of attendant faeries, ambassadors from other fey races, centaur chieftains, and various interplanar hangers-on. Many creatures attending the Court have worked for decades to gain enough influence to seek an audience with the Summer Queen. Some of these attendants from other lands have gone native. They have forgotten their original missions, and they now live out their days in the wondrous, intoxicating beauty of the Feywild.

All Fey can be capricious at times and dangerous when provoked. Most fey societies, however, have elaborate social codes and forms of etiquette, rules that govern every aspect of behavior. One significant ethical distinction among the largely unaligned fey is how they apply their rules to mortals and other non-fey. Many among the Eladrin and their fey allies respect mortals who can navigate their rules, treating them with honor as they would other fey. By carefully negotiating the complex politics of these fey, mortals can find a welcome reception and (sometimes) safe passage back to the world. These fey make and keep bargains with mortals who show proper deference and respect, use correct titles and forms of address, and play by the same rules the fey do. Other Fey, however, don’t apply their rules to outsiders. As far as these Fey are concerned, non-Fey are vulgar dupes or trifling amusements to be toyed with and disposed of. If these Fey make bargains with mortals, it is only to trap the mortals in bets they can’t win or promises they can’t fulfill. These Fey show no hesitation in breaking their bargains if the mortals find unexpected loopholes.

  • The Court of Stars

Myst had long sought answers as to what the Raven Queen had taken from her, and she believed that the Court of Stars held the key to unlocking this mystery. However, gaining access to this elusive and exclusive gathering of the Fey was no easy feat. The Court of Stars was a complex and intricate web of alliances, factions, and politics. It was a place where words could be weapons, and alliances were forged and broken on a whim. Even powerful deities were subject to the whims of the Archfey and their ever-shifting allegiances.

Despite the dangers and complexities of the Court, Myst was determined to gain access. She knew that navigating the politics and etiquette of the Fey would not be easy, but she was willing to take the risk. With great effort and persistence, Myst was able to secure an audience with Titania, the Summer Queen, and gain entry into the Court of Stars. She accessed the Court of Stars through the Gates of the Moon, of Selûne's divine realm. There, she sought out the Archfey and their Courts, hoping to find answers to her questions.

Myst quickly learned that navigating the Court of Stars was like walking through a maze. She had to tread carefully, avoiding offending the wrong Fey and making deals that could ultimately harm her in the long run. Through her journey, Myst encountered Fey of all kinds, from Eladrin nobles to attendant faeries and ambassadors from other fey races. She saw firsthand the complexity and danger of dealing with the Fey, as well as the rewards that could be gained by playing by their rules.

  • The Dark Struggle

Dubh Catha, or Dark Crow, had long been seeking a way to break the curse that had befallen him and his kin. When he heard of Myst's quest for knowledge of the Shadowfell, he saw an opportunity to manipulate her into a bargain that would serve his own ends. He disguised himself as a seer and approached Myst with false promises of knowledge. Myst, eager for answers, fell for his ruse and made a deal with Dark Crow. But as soon as she was in his grasp, he revealed his true nature as the Archfey of Betrayal and enslaved her. He took her to his Fortress of Sorrow in Liar's Hovel, where she was kept as a prisoner.

Dubh Catha's curse was a powerful one that affected not only him but his entire house. The curse was laid by the Summer Queen Tiandra in retaliation for Dubh Catha's betrayal. It stripped him and his kin of their true names, erased all records of their existence, and transformed them into the Dubh Sidhe or "Darklings." The curse also bound Dubh Catha to his crumbling keep, where he was forced to live out the rest of his days in isolation.

Despite his many attempts to break the curse, Dubh Catha remained trapped for centuries, slowly losing hope of ever finding a way to break free. It was only when Myst arrived at his fortress that he began to see a glimmer of hope. But he was a fey of habit, and he had some of the worst ones.

At first, Dark Crow reveled in his power over Myst, relishing in her fear and pain. He reveled in the fact that he had outsmarted her, and that she had fallen into his trap so easily. He taunted her with the knowledge that he had never intended to keep his end of the bargain, that he had only ever planned to enslave her at the Court of Stars. For Myst, the betrayal was a harsh lesson in the ways of the Fey Courts and their bargains. And for Dark Crow, his actions only served to deepen the curse that had been placed upon him and his kin.

Myst, as a powerful wizard, had knowledge of magic that Dark Crow had never encountered before. He saw in her the potential to help him break the curse and was willing to do whatever it took to force her aid. In the century that followed when no one came to her rescue, not even the Seldarine triumvirate of deities who hold sway over space as a whole that she had always prayed to, Myst lost her faith.

  • The Seeking Crow

As Myst languished in Dubh Catha's Fortress of Sorrow, she began to obsess over how to escape her captivity. She used all her cunning and her training in the arts of illusion to try to trick her way out of the fortress, but Dubh Catha's magic was too striking, and her attempts were always thwarted. As time passed, he realized that she was not mortal, yet not Fey. She was strong-willed and resourceful, and he found himself fascinated by her complete disregard of the concept of time. As they spent more time together, he was drawn to her otherworldly features that reminded him of the night sky that governed his world and her resilience in the face of cruelty.

One day Myst overheard Dubh Catha muttering to himself in ancient Sylvan, and she realized that he was reciting arcane riddles about his true name, yet he was cursed to not hear it. She had heard stories of how a Fey's true name held immense power over them, and so she became determined to learn his. Over the next few days, she tried to learn as much as she could about him, sneaking around the fortress and listening in on conversations. Eventually, she pieced together enough information to be able to guess at his true name as Lor Badb, Seeking Crow – instead of Dubh Catha, Dark Struggle.

Myst began to call Dubh Catha by his true name, and she saw the effect it had on him. He became more vulnerable and more willing to confide in her. She saw that he was not the heartless monster that she had thought him to be, but rather a lonely and desperate creature, cursed by his own pride and ambition. Despite his growing affection for her and the intimacy they had started to share, Dubh Catha was still determined to use Myst in any way to break his curse.

  • The Curse Lifted

He took her to the Gloaming Court to offer her as a gift to the Queen of Air and Darkness in impatience. However, before he presented her to the Queen, Dark Crow had a change of heart. He saw how the Queen was using him, just as she had used him in the past, and realized that he could not betray Myst. She saw that he was not irredeemable, and that there was a part of him that yearned for something more than power and control as he had in his past. He had made a deal with Myst, offering her knowledge of the Shadowfell in exchange for her assistance, and so he granted her freedom to leave the Feywild and the knowledge he had originally bargained and betrayed her with.

With his true name, three committed betrayals willfully redeemed and the refusal to betray someone he loved, all which went against his accursed nature, the curse lifted and he became Seelie Archfey once more. Dubh Catha was finally free to leave his crumbling fortress and explore the world outside. For the first time in centuries, Dubh Catha felt the sun on his skin, breathed fresh air, and saw the world beyond his dark realm. He was grateful to Myst for her help and realized that he had fallen in love with her during their time together. Dubh Catha and Myst left his fortress together, he was ready to start a new life free from the curse that had held him captive for so long.

Myst had grown to love Dubh Catha during her time in his fortress, but she knew that she could not stay with him. She understood that Dubh Catha had not been truly free, that his despicable actions were driven by the curse that had befallen him and his people. Even though he had broken the curse, the wounds of the past still lingered, and he still was not truly free to love or be loved. Some cruelties she could not forget.

Even though she had learned much from Dubh Catha, she knew that their worlds could never fully intertwine. She had her own path to follow, and it led her away from the mercurial Fey. Myst knew that their time together was over. She would cherish the sweeter memories of their time together, but she would not let them hold her back. She had her own destiny to fulfill, and she knew he was not it.

So, with a heavy heart, Myst said goodbye to Dark Crow. She knew that it would be hard to leave him behind, but she also knew that it was the right thing to do. Dubh Catha had taught her much about the Fey and the Shadowfell, and she would carry those lessons with her as she continued on her journey.

Era of Starfall

On the outskirts of the Wildspace known as Xaryxispace, recently freed from enslavement in the Feywild, Myst returns home to find the Xaryxian Empire Spelljammer fleet her father commands has disappeared on a mission in the Silver Void decades ago. She leads an expedition aboard her father’s personal Spelljamming ship, The Starlighter, and searches for a crew.

Along the way, she encounters the strange Far Realm Infested Star, Acamar, that has been terrorizing neighboring planets with untold horrors, leaving destruction in their wake. She decides to investigate, only to find herself battling for survival against the powerful and mysterious Elder Evil that was stalking her since she the Feywild. She would have met certain doom within the meteorite shower of that battle had it not been for Tarketh, a male Dragonborn Paladin of Bahamet and his deity’s divine intervention.

  • The Malignant Warlock

Antonius Grim, known as the Malignant, was a Human Archfey pact Warlock driven by his insatiable ambition and overwhelming desires. With an arrogant and entitled demeanor, he believed himself to be superior to those around him, including the unfortunate Myst whom he saw as nothing more than a pawn in his grand scheme.

When Myst showed even the slightest hint of warmth towards him, Grim saw it as an opportunity to exploit her situation and further his own agenda. Oblivious to the depths of her enslavement in the Fortress of Sorrow, he saw her as Dark Crow's prized possession and sought to use it to establish himself in higher echelons of power. He had no qualms about betraying Dark Crow, considering him a mere stepping stone in his pursuit of greater influence and a more formidable patron.

However, when Myst rejected his plans and his treachery became evident to the cursed Archfey of Betrayal and the Darklings, Grim found himself facing the dire consequences of his actions. He soon discovered that some Warlock pacts are far more exacting and binding than he had ever imagined. The powers he had gained through his pact with the Archfey turned against him, punishing him for his deceit and greed.

Realizing the severity of his predicament, Grim desperately sought out a new patron to save himself from the imminent consequences of his actions. In his search for a powerful entity that could offer him protection and escape the wrath of the Archfey, he turned to Acamar, one of the corpse stars that lurked within the Deep Astral. Acamar, with its eerie twilight and haunting atmosphere, seemed like a fitting patron for the twisted and corrupted intentions of the Malignant.

Embracing the Star Pact, Grim forged a new pact with Acamar, binding himself to the dark and otherworldly powers emanating from the corpse star. This pact granted him access to eldritch energies that twisted his mind and granted him new abilities fueled by the gloom and paranoia of the Far Realm. Yet, even with this new source of power, Grim could never escape the consequences of his past actions or the looming shadows of the Archfey he had betrayed.

The Malignant, now a Star Pact Warlock, became a creature tormented by his own wishes and haunted by the deeds of his treacherous past. As he delved deeper into the mysteries of the Far Realm, he found himself entangled in a web of Cosmic Horrors and otherworldly forces, forever seeking control or, perhaps, a way to cheat fate and claim the ultimate power he craved.

  • The Platinum Dragon

Mystarra had escaped certain death, thanks most likely to the intervention of Bahamut, and the timely arrival of Tarketh Dragonkin.
