While the Orcs worship the Great Totems as titanic masters of the physical world, the Elves of Tora view the Shinria as the Loom-Keepers. To an Elf, a spirit isn't a beast to be challenged, but a frequency of the world-machine that must be harmonized.

Their spirits are often more abstract, representing the flow of time, the growth of the "Seed," and the preservation of the prison’s delicate walls.
