Description

Umbryx, the Elvar's settlement in Aure Nova, is a unique community adapted to the specific needs and characteristics of the Elvar people. The Elvar's sensitivity to sunlight has shaped the architecture and lifestyle of Umbryx. The homes in Umbryx are designed to shield its inhabitants from direct sunlight, utilizing materials that minimize exposure to UV rays. The buildings often feature thick walls, deep shades, and strategic placement of windows and openings to control the amount of light entering the living spaces. The use of natural vegetation and canopies further adds to the shaded ambiance of the settlement.

The nocturnal nature of the Elvar influences their daily routines and activities. Umbral Haven comes alive during the night, with the streets bustling with activity, social gatherings, and various communal events. The Elvar have adapted their lifestyle to embrace the darkness, finding comfort and inspiration under the moonlit skies and starry nights.

Culture

The backdrop of a corrupt aristocracy and resource scarcity in their homeland has left its mark on the culture and outlook of the Elvar colonists. The Elvar in Umbryx hold a collective memory of the challenges they faced in their home city, which has fostered a sense of resilience and resourcefulness among them. They have learned to appreciate the value of community support, relying on each other to navigate the difficulties of a new environment.

The resource scarcity in their home city has made the Elvar colonists resourceful and efficient in their agricultural practices. They have implemented sustainable farming techniques, optimizing the limited resources available to them in Aure Nova. The experience of scarcity has also shaped their mindset towards resource management, encouraging a sense of frugality and careful utilization of the land's offerings.

With increased access to resources and the ability to purchase goods, there is a growing focus on material possessions among the Elvar. Luxury items, exotic goods, and extravagant lifestyles become symbols of status and success. The pursuit of material wealth and the display of opulence become more prevalent in the social fabric of Umbryx.

The widening gap between the wealthy Elvar and the common populace creates visible class divisions within the settlement. The elite, who can afford lavish lifestyles, reside in opulent estates and partake in extravagant events, further reinforcing their privileged status. This leads to a sense of exclusivity and a stark contrast between the lifestyles of the wealthy Elvar and those struggling to make ends meet.

The pursuit of luxury and hedonism can exacerbate existing social hierarchies within the Elvar community. The wealthy elite wield influence and hold sway over social circles, creating an environment of social climbing and competition. Connections, status, and extravagant displays become significant factors in determining one's place within the social hierarchy, leading to a culture of envy, rivalry, and manipulation.

The focus on materialism and self-indulgence can bring about a shift in the values and priorities of the Elvar in Umbryx. Traditional cultural practices and communal values may take a backseat as individualism and personal gratification gain prominence. This shift can lead to a loss of community cohesion and a greater emphasis on individual desires and aspirations.

Despite exposure to new and different types of people, this Elvar community still seeks isolation from others and does not welcome outsiders; they still look upon others with mistrust derived from hidden fear and even jealousy.  The sentiment seems to be that these lucky ducks have had it easy, building their societies in blessed places where nature hands them everything they need on a silver platter.  They don't know suffering and adversity, therefore they don't know strength and efficiency.

also involved in illicit activities such as smuggling, counterfeiting, and clandestine trade, with ties that extend into Molasba and Ebonryft. They have a reputation for being adept at evading authorities and working around legal restrictions, all in the pursuit of expanding their wealth and influence.

The interactions between these noble families are fraught with secrecy, alliances, and betrayals. They engage in covert negotiations, smear campaigns, and outright sabotage to undermine each other's positions. Their shady dealings and power struggles have a direct impact on the lives of the common Elvar who work beneath them. The workers often face unfair wages, poor working conditions, and limited opportunities for upward mobility due to the exploitation and manipulation perpetuated by the noble families.

They form underground networks, support one another, and strive for collective empowerment. Within the shadows cast by the noble families, a growing sentiment of rebellion and dissent takes root, as the common Elvar yearn for a more equitable and just society that transcends the grip of corruption and exploitation.
