Euclid Lazuli

Raised in the Marching Mountains in the Calimshan nation. Her parents are both human, and were cunning mathematicians and strategists during the rebellion that overthrew the air genasi tyrants who had enslaved the humans of Calimshan. Her parents originally lived in Calimport, but moved to the mountains after Euclid’s birth in order to protect her from remaining tensions between air genasi and humans, since she inherited the air genasi gene from somewhere in their lineage.

Before they left, however, Euclid was cursed by her mother’s closest friend, a sorcerer named Adelita. Adelita was horrified that her friend and prominent member of the resistance against the air genasi had had an air genasi child. Because she had experienced terrible suffering from the air genasi, she cursed Euclid to be “constantly plagued by the sky,” as she was.

Euclid feels guilty about making her parents’ lives more difficult, and wants to prove that she can help people just like her parents did and be a powerful hero. She grew up on stories of how they overthrew the genasi regime.

Curse: Birds are obsessed with her. They don’t attack her, and she is actually able to get along with birds very well. But there are a lot of birds sometimes, to the point where it can be difficult for her to go anywhere or get things done. If there aren’t a huge number of birds, she can usually keep them off of her with some gentle wind, causing them to circle around or above her. She avoids cities due to the large number of pigeons, and cramped areas with not a lot of room for a flock of birds to safely be flying around her.

She has a green kestrel, Zephyr, that became attached to her in the Marching Mountains, and follows her everywhere. Unlike other birds, she always allows him to sit on her shoulder.
