The reconstructed keep serves as the training ground and barracks for Phandalin's new town guard. It was originally destroyed in 10th century DR by orcs. In 1489 DR, its dungeon was occupied by the Redbrand Bandits under the leadership of Glasstaff.
The keep was reconstructed in 1490 DR by Townmaster Sildar Hallwinter, with help from Escobert the Red and Gunter Grumbleton Jr. Only a month after being rebuilt, the keep was successfully used to shelter Phandalin's citizens during the Raid of Phandalin.
