This woodland lies to the west of the city of Calmhold and town of Latestep, it gets its name from the thick canopy which in places covers the sky and leaves the floor in shadows. Where these dark places have the road that loops away from the coast to avoid Kraken Bay, running through them, the king employs men to light magical lanterns built into the trees themselves in ancient times to light the travellers way. The men charged with lighting the lanterns are usually low level mages who may have only managed to master a simple prestigation spell.
