Fey, Fae, Fairies, the Fair Folk - these powerful, capricious and immortal beings go by many names. They originate from another world that intersects and overlaps with our own in various places and it is possible for individuals to cross between the world both intentionally and by accident.

The Fae are divided into three groups - Seelie, Unseelie and Wanseelie.

  • Seelie - The Blessed Fae are bound to one of the Fae monarchs and the laws and edicts that govern their kind. They follow rules and act with purpose but their morals and goals can be strange and alien to mortal eyes.
  • Unseelie — The Unblessed Fae are those who have forsaken, or perhaps never been beholden to, the Fae monarchs. They are varied and unpredictable, supposedly they still obey some of the fundamental rules of the fae though which ones apply is often impossible to know.
  • Wanseelie — The Faded Fae are often considered cousins to the fae rather than the true fae they once were. They are those who left the Fae Mists, their power has dimmed as they have grown closer to the mortal world but they are still inherently otherworldly beings.
    • Examples include such creatures as dryads, satyrs, pixies and many other magical beings. The most extreme examples are elves and gnomes that are so far removed from the Fae Mists that they now live mortal lives (albeit very long ones).
