Everyone had a story growing up about how their cousin's best friend's aunt or that weird guy down the way's brother's friend from another village swore they had found one of the ruined Spires, and explored it despite the danger. In truth, though it is known there are likely ruined Spires out there somewhere, no one actually wants to find them. That is a piece of history that is best left buried and undisturbed. When children brag about finding such things, the adults may ask a question or two. Figure out they actually mean the old tunnels the community used to use as storage some years ago and nod with a knowing smile. Stories and games are how we learn and grow. And everyone loves a good adventure! But the best kinds are the ones that finish before dinner, and let you sleep safely in your own nest after the fact.
The horrors of that Tide are remembered still, and the Spires and those who created them are hated still. If anyone were to discover such a place, and recognize it for what it is, they would leave it and mark it as anathema for all to see.
