A former member of the Asako Inquisitors, he retired to the lands of the Falcon Clan some thirty years ago intent on learning more about gaki, which he had become obsessed with. He was already old enough to be retiring then and those who even remember him assume that he has been long dead.
The Falcon remember him as a strange man who kept to himself, living among them for 15 years. He seemed particularly intent on researching whether it was possible to summon gaki, which frightened those knowledgeable about them. Gaki are not to be meddled with and doing so is likely to invite them to feed on you.
Nonetheless, he lived there quietly until he disappeared 22 years ago. The Falcon assume that his studies finally caught up to him.
When he was a young man, before he became daimyo, Yasuki Taka encountered him in the mountains with obvious symptoms of the taint. Instead of reporting him, he hid him and took him to the monk Moruko in order to be healed. He then proceeded to blackmail him for many years until he eventually disappeared. Taka claims that he joined a secret criminal organization called the Kolat, aiding them with his maho.
The magistrates confronted him in the cave beneath Daidoji Dajan's castle. When Dajan was killed by Mirumoto Tetsuzae his death completed the ritual and allowed the Shimushigaki to possess Nakiro. In the ensuing fight, the gaki was defeated, taking what remained of Nakiro with it.
