After coming to the Magistrate Residence to get her residency permit renewed, she met Akodo Tadashi. He subsequently offered to escort her home and, while doing so, got into a fight with Bayushi Otado after he insulted the pair before the altercation was broken up by Tamori Gojinka.
Akodo and Emily have both confessed their love to one another and met one another's parents, both of whom are in approval of their courtship.
After informing Akodo that she was leaving the city due to her father's posting to Jukami Mura, Lukas Stark stated that, while he had no doubt of the purity of his intentions or strength of arms, given the recent political unrest he would be remiss in his duty as a father to trust Emily's safety to anyone but himself... or her husband. Akodo immediately asked for his permission to marry her. Emily enthusiastically accepted his proposal, and the wedding was quickly planned.
