Mor'Koc may be the richest city on Orth, but every city has its underside. Not everyone can live a wealthy life after all, but many destitute or displaced people come to the city looking for a better life, hoping the wealth of the city will trickle down to them. Unfortunately, this is not how it works, so the great majority of them end up in West Gate, the city's poorest district. It is not quite a slum, but it's not far off, and the vast majority of the residents here are minorities such as Expansion Lesser Catfolk, Old World Harpies and Kobolds who have come from elsewhere seeking the Morian Dream only to find that it's exactly that and that reality is much harsher.
During the events of A Short Month, much of West Gate was destroyed by Unknown's incursion. This has created a massive humanitarian crisis in the city as thousands of lower-class citizens have been displaced after their homes have been destroyed and are unable to afford to live anywhere else, and the administration is very much struggling to solve it. There is also widespread death in the area due to the affects of the Elder Being's toxic blood.
