Kenina is a young Faerie and T'Kashire native born in what is now the Queen's Cat Inn, as her parents were the owners. When the inn originally went out of business, Kenina and her family moved to elsewhere in the village. Ashraiah "Ash" el Sabine heard about them from Shayla Fitzreine and upon reopening the inn under its current name hired Kenina as her waitress and barmaid. Kenina however continues to give part of her pay to her parents, who still live in the village.
Kenina and Ash became fast friends, united by a love of local gossip and a determination to keep the inn running and provide a good service. Both also share an interest in finding unusual and interesting alcohol for their customers, though Kenina does sometimes find Ash slightly embarrassing (not to mention hard to deal with due to her own social awkwardness) and worries about her stubbornness and headstrong nature getting in the way of actually running the business.
