Garrettar was born on a farm just outside Caballus to Kadar Rachid and Tamra Rachid and was raised alongside his twin sister Ryesheba Rachid. He and his twin sister were witnesses to their mother's murder by Hayk-ebasa-ged'wen and the accompanying blinding of , and after their father left he and his sister were raised by their paternal uncle Jagrafar on their family's small farm. It was Jagrafar that apparently taught Garrettar his exceptional cooking skills.
Following the death of their father, he and his sister made their way to T'Kashire, where they met . After some back-and-forth and being impressed by his cooking, Ash decided to hire him as the cook for her inn, The Queen's Cat. Over time, he and Ash bonded over memories of his father and their mutual love of music, and they began a romantic relationship which has only become stronger as time goes on, to the point that he now permanently resides at the inn with her. In the summer of 3A 209, they welcomed a daughter, Hope.
