Hayk was one of Ādīsi Geneti's most powerful drug lords, with fingers also in slavery, smuggling, hitmen organisations, underground cage fighting and various other organised crime rackets. Among those he held in bondage were Nenet, Magri and Ash el Sabine along with their siblings, during their younger years. All three of the named individuals ultimately escaped, though not without sustaining considerable mental and physical trauma.  Kadar Rachid also served under him at one point in his career.

As the most influential crime lord in the Betin capital, Hayk exercised an extraordinary degree of control over the city's movements and affairs. This included oversight of the famous South Dockyards, granting him significant leverage over the freight passing through the largely merchant nation. It is widely rumoured that he even held the previous Patrician in his pocket, though this has never been confirmed. He was notorious for his liberal use of extreme violence and, rather than delegating brutality to subordinates, was known to revel in it personally — the more savage the better.

Hayk met his demise indirectly because of Shayla Fitzreine. Through her, Qau-dibab-āy'ḥāk-āy'āda learned of Ash's time in slavery under Hayk and witnessed first-hand the lasting effect it had on her. At some point following the dissolution of the first incarnation of The Band of Misfits, he returned to Adisi. After fighting his way through Hayk's enforcers, he located the crime lord and, following a brutal confrontation, decapitated him.

Hayk's death did not, however, bring about the collapse of his criminal empire. Instead, power fragmented among his immediate subordinates, who have since established their own rival cartels from the remnants of his organisation and are now engaged in open conflict with one another.
