This massive gorge was created by an spell launched by Nox during the Balla Incursion in response to an attack launched by a force led by Countess Orla Drakenfiend and also consisting of Dixie Flemingbottom and the Fod Heavy Cavalry, Eslo Lightfoot and his sons, and Donq Yotay who invited himself to assist. The attack, which punctured the water table and created a colossal scar on the landscape and a new river, mainly decimated Nox's own army, including a grave tyrant that Donq had been fighting (though Donq himself survived unscathed) and only hit Eslo of the attacking force, who was instantly killed.
The gorge itself lies along the border between the Second Kingdom of Tir and Upper Manzil through the middle of the ancestral homelands of the Giants. It sits on one side immediately to the east of Balla itself, having taken part of the east face of the mountain the city stands on with it as the ground was destroyed.
