Lord Bluebeard is a dwarf lawyer practising in the Grand City of Mor'Koc. Despite the honorific “Lord” he is no noble and has no relation to King Dwain Bluebeard of the dwarves. Bluebeard is greedy, cowardly and incompetent. When Bel Kuko is arrested in the first loop of A Short Month he serves as her court-appointed advocate. Rather than mount a defence he spends more time extorting gold from her, encourages her to plead guilty to a crime she did not commit, and accepts bribes from the magistrates. He rarely leaves the courthouse except to drink and carouse, and he is widely mocked by other lawyers in Mor'Koc. In later loops Bel Kuko and the Stormblades learn to avoid his services entirely.
