In the first loop, Bel Kuko fails her evaluation by the Grand Order of Wizards and attempts to get a job at the Grand Library before accidentally getting herself arrested while trying to retrieve a stolen purse and is thrown into a holding cell. The dwarven lawyer Lord Bluebeard offers to defend her, and despite her feeling it to be a foregone conclusion due to anti-Kobold sentiment she accepts. When a dragon smashes through the wall of her cell before the trial though, she escapes and makes her way up the hill to the palace square, but seeing the seeming futility of the situation after reaching it she allows one of the attacking dragons to kill her. Upon her death the month resets, and Bel wakes up on the first morning again, and realises that time is repeating.
