Leech is a physician in the Tiran Army, who joins the extended party in Tale of Tir and Nox, Part II as a multiclass Subclass - Life Cleric Cleric and Subclass - Circle of the Stars Druid. He assists the party in the war against Nox, and is noted for his skill in healing.

Background

Leech is a Tíran, and soldier of a couple of decades when the campaign starts. He is known to the men he serves with for his efficacy in curing their illnesses and injuries, but also for his disquieting bedside manner. He is a big proponent of natural and often experimental treatments, derived from the world around him, claiming that Leannan has provided every treatment he could possibly need in nature. This is especially apparent in his regular prescription of leeches to cure a variety of ailments - this has resulted in nickname of "Doctor Leech" or often just "Leech".

Leech's real name and history before joining the army is unknown to his fellow survivors of the Tiran Army, with the few from his regiment that have survived not knowing him by any other name than Doctor Leech. There are many rumours however. The most prevalent is that Leech was formerly the physician to a noble family, and one of his experiments went wrong while he was treating the noble's daughter, leaving her insane, disfigured or worse. Leech had to flee to escape the noble's wrath, and signed up with the military as a skilled healer to get out of town.

Another often repeated rumour is that Leech studied at the Grand Bētin University of Life Sciences. This one at least has a shred of evidence - Leech is known to be fluent in the Betin dialect of the Forked Tongue. In addition, despite his skills with magical treatments, Leech is knowledgeable of more mundane methods and likes to understand the theory behind the magical treatments, as well as combining the magical and mundane in several of his more unusual cures. This would suggest he has studied nonmagical healing, a discipline for which the University of Life Sciences is internationally known.

Leech refuses to confirm or deny any of these rumours, merely grinning a disturbing smile when asked, and asking if they really want to know those gory details.

Appearance

Leech is on the older side of middle age for a High Elf, with thinning grey-blonde hair that he grows long to comb over a bald spot. Though he does not usually sport a beard, the rigours of the war lead him to often have a five o' clock shadow. He has watery grey eyes that bulge slightly, and a number of small scars though none of them distinctive enough to identify him. He is shorter and leaner than average for a high elf, though with a wiry strength to him. He has a wan, pallid appearance, though whether this is his natural complexion or the result of too many leechings is unknown.

When on duty, he wears the insignia of his rank as physician in the Tiran Army, and an unusual set of armour - a suit of scale mail made from the actual scales of one of the dinosaurs of the Central Plains. He purports that this is due to metal interfering with his connection to Leannan and his healing abilities. In battle, he uses a traditional elven Longbow, as well as a round wooden shield, and a distinctly less traditional falchion, which he occasionally uses to amputate limbs. He is rarely seen without his Healer's Kit and his "Star Map" - an astrological diagram that aligns the major constellations with points of the elven body.
