Founded by The Hooded Man in one of his many, many disguises, the Grand Bētin University is considered one of the finest centres of learning on Orth, focusing on natural sciences such as thaumatology, anatomy, medicine, alchemy, geology, botany and zoology. It also notably has the largest greenhouse on Orth, as well as the grounds themselves housing thousands of trees and other plants from around the planet making them effectively the largest arboretum on the planet.
On the stairs in front of the entryway is a huge silver statue of a stag, placed there by The Hooded Man as a tribute to his late friend Herne. While there is a plaque noting who it is dedicated to, who made and placed the statue there is not public knowledge.
This location is also notable for being the first location ever mentioned in a main Orth story, being the location of the very first scene of Tale of Tir and Nox, Part I.
