Hathor is an Artificer, archeologist and leading expert in Dwarven technology who worked for the Grand Order of Wizards, and was the leader of the dig team sent to research and explore the ruins of Veg Darul. Despite her protestations, she was chosen to lead the team as it was assumed that having a Nagi leading the expedition would be a sign of goodwill towards neighbouring Manzil. As such, she chose the entire dig team herself and thus it is entirely consisting of people she knows she can trust... though not necessarily people she gets on well with.

Hathor herself rarely talks about her origins, though it is known that she is the adoptive daughter of Ivar "Snakefather" Svenson. While she appears very intimidating (she is albino, has an extremely sharp wit and a rather eccentric and blunt demeanour, and wears a distinctive copper and leather face mask of her father's design), she truly cares about the people in her employ, though isn't particularly professional or necessarily the best leader. She is usually accompanied by her Unknown personal assistant, bodyguard and carer Unknown.

Hathor suffers from several notable disabilities, including severely degraded muscles around her lungs and diaphragm, making it difficult for her to breathe in normal air conditions. The mask she wears, which is of her father's design but heavily modified and improved by her, is attached by treated leather hoses to a clockwork compressor mechanism worn on her back which allows her to breathe (larger versions of the same mechanism are installed in places she is regularly, as well as in her tent at the dig camp.) Without this she will quickly pass out from hypoxia, and even with it activities that increase her breathing rate and heart rate too much will create the same issue. Eli also contains a further miniaturised version in his chest panel for emergencies.

During the events of Beneath the Mountain, it was revealed that Hathor had been unintentionally killed two of Salaq-shuli-sīkāyiki-negadē's business partners and crippled Salaq himself during a test of an experimental attempt to create an airship engine which exploded. After her calling off the expedition, she was convicted of third degree murder, but sentenced lightly due to the nature of the incident, the intervention of Xvim Wrenlow, her genuine remorse over the incident and the specifics of her disabilities, no longer being allowed to work in or purchase property in the Empire. She was also suspended from the Order pending an investigation into breaches of the Order's ethics code during the expedition itself. She has since left the order of her own accord and relocated to The New Republic of Bēti, where she now works directly for Salaq.
