Am'ryl of the Moon's Blossom

Lunar Sorceress

Am'ryl is a sorceress in the Tiran Army, who joins the extended party in Tale of Tir and Nox, Part II as a Lunar Magic Sorcerer. She assists the party in the war against Nox, and is noted for her skills in support spells.

Background

Am'ryl was a foundling left as a baby at the Convent of Moon's Blossom on and island in eastern Tír, where she was raised by the nuns and disciples of Amaryllis present in the Church of Amaryllis. She was given her name, derived from the Goddess, due to being found beneath a rare supermoon. As she began to grow older in the convent, her devotion and pleasant demeanour were praised, but strange happenings began to occur around her at certain periods of the lunar calendar. By the time she was approaching adulthood, it was clear that Am'ryl had sorcerous blood that was exacerbated by the lunar cycle, and she could fully manifest some spells and powers.

Unsure what to do with her, the older nuns sent Am'ryl to leave the convent, and find the truth behind her powers. She has travelled to many places associated with natural magic and the moon, beginning with sites of midnight worship on the Faerie Isle, to Ch'erek’a and even spending some time amongst an Amaryllite sect in The Beastfolk Heartlands. This journey has often left her with more questions than answers, but she remains a devout Amaryllite, and through focus and practice developed her powers and her control over them. Eventually she returned to her convent, bringing word of her various studies on Amaryllis and her lunar power.

Upon a vision received under the new moon, Am'ryl returned to mainland Tir with a strong compulsion to join the Tiran Military. Unbeknownst to her, this was shortly before the beginning of Nox's Invasion of Orth. Am'ryl's patience and organisation, as well as her strong magical powers and more unfortunately the death of several of her superiors, has led to her rapidly rising to sergeant in the Regiment of Mages.

Appearance

Am'ryl is slender and more delicate of feature than average, almost petite for a Troll. She has a soft rounded face, and plump cheers and an easy, calming smile. She wears her hair long, under a headscarf, and usually dresses in the white and midnight blue robes of her order, though since joining the Tiran Army she wears these under the insignia and Tiran colours. She wears little ornamentation, usually favouring a simple rod of whitewood to cast with.
