As a currently detached god of sorrow, Pian is a minor patron god of the city of Lacrima, Sorrow's Decanter.  Dolorous texts claim that, long ago, previous followers of Pian asked him to empower them so they would be able to live insulated from dangers around them.  Sensing the fear and apprehension in mortal hearts, he granted them to power to cleave earth and route water so they could engender a safe haven for those in need.  In their complacency, however, bred both resentment and lethargy:  Pian's followers continued to ask him for further empowerment, claiming to need said power to defend themselves against invading forces.  Pian, concerned for their safety, bestowed upon them the power to fight back.  It was his last and most damning mistake.

Their choice was to strike first and strike aggressively, drawing blood and subjugating nearby civilizations seemingly indiscriminately.  Witnessing the swaths of destruction caused by powers he bestowed upon his followers, Pian began to sob uncontrollably, drowning the entire region and his following along with it.  In shock, Pian went into a deep slumber due to both a lack of remaining faith and emotional turmoil.

When he wakes up countless moons into the future, he discovers that the site he once flooded with tears was now lush with infused divine power:  a flowing city filled to the brim with vim and vigor.  None have heard from Pian since the founding of Lacrima, Sorrow's Decanter (despite erroneous claims to the contrary), though much respect is given to him and his sacrifice.

It is unknown about his direct relationship with current Lacrima, and no one knows if his emotions are currently in check.  Those that worship The Undried Eye both revere him for his ultimate sacrifice and fear him for what may befall them much like their predecessors.
