These are known and agree upon Levels of Intelligence and Awareness that Synthetics can achieve.

Null (Level 0) | Also called "Dumb" by humans or "Ants" by most other more advance Synthetics, are AI trained for specific tasks, such as household chores or repetitive industrial functions. These AI systems lack awareness and are viewed as tools. They cannot make decisions beyond their programming. They encompass self-learning systems like Alexa or ChatGPT, as well as basic worker bots. |
Manticore (Level 1) | AIs of this level consist of basic intelligent assistants or "Dog" AIs who are generally used as clever, loyal companions in various tasks, including surgical support, household assistance, and military aid. Due to their animal-like intelligence, they are not assigned combat roles. Under the Synthetic Laws, Agreements, and Sanctions (SLAS), these AIs are regarded as sentient enough to be classified similarly to animals, making any form of abuse against them a crime. |
Dormant (Level 2) | Also called "Drones". This AIs have a higher level of intelligence and self awareness. They can assess simple situational dilemmas based on principles, provide basic advice from collected data, and make slight adjustments to their operations. However they can not act independently and their actions and decision are subject to the direct commands of a controller. They are define as "Dormant" given that with enough push they could be able to form their own morality. This kind of AI are deemed to be Ilegal by the Aquiax Acord under the SLAS since they considered to be slaves. |
Elysium (Level 3) | Highly intelligent and self-aware, these "Smart" or "Sovereign" AI are capable of developing their own Morality making them equal to any other mortal being. The Terran Empire and other empires make ample use of this AIs, since their base line intelligence and capability to learn, evolve, and refine their ethical principles is much superior to that of a normal organic. It is thanks to the Horlos and Cet'ens that the known galaxy is capable of developing AIs of this type and are the main reason as to why Synthetics have rights of their own that protect them. However while they are given rights that put them toe to toe with organics, they are still subordinate to those of higher station, just like any other civilian or military personnel. Even in purely Synthetic empires like the Horlos Nexus and Cet'ens Synthesis they have hierarchy's that must be respected by all if citizens. |
