Democratic People's Republic of North Korea

Defunct

North Korea, officially the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), was a country in East Asia with Pyongyangi as the capital and largest city. It constituted the northern half of the Korean Peninsula and borders China and Russia to the north at the Yalu (Amnok) and Tumen rivers, and South Korea (now known as the United Republic of Korea after the Unchanied Invasion) to the south at the ex Korean Demilitarized Zone. The country's western border was formed by the Yellow Sea, while its eastern border was defined by the Sea of Japan. North Korea, like its southern counterpart, claimed to be the sole legitimate government of the entire peninsula and adjacent islands.
