The Ringed Host is an ancient and insular faction of the Halorim, a species renowned for their mastery of genetics and their profound, almost reverent, belief in perfection and order. As a society, they are dedicated to the preservation, observation, and manipulation of life, a legacy of their enigmatic progenitor, The Creator, the first of their kind.

Current Status

The Ringed Host occupies a handful of systems deep within The Last Hand close to where its "fingers" stretch out. Their borders are clustered around their original gas giant homeworld and their quantum catapult. Their influence is still felt across the region, even as their isolation grows. Halorim sightings are rare, but their genetic legacy and the shadow of their Creator's vision linger in the galaxy's memory.

Orgin

The Halorim originated in the unearthly depths of a gas giant, thriving within the high-pressure primordial soup at its core. Over millennia, they ascended as a species through biological and technological ingenuity, evolving into beings whose forms and abilities are as adaptable as they are extraordinary. Despite their complex nature, every Halorim is a clone derived from one of four "perfect" genetic templates, established by The Creator and revered as unchanging ideals of their kind. These templates represent distinct societal roles.

Every Halorim develops their own unique identity, but they must conform to the genetic blueprint of their template. Genetic manipulation is allowed but deviation from the template is forbidden, considered an affront to the Creator's vision of perfection. The Creator's exact methods and intentions remain a mystery even to the Halorim themselves, but still they adhere to the authority to their genetic doctrine.

Society and Culture

The Ringed Host is a theocratic meritocracy, where status and roles are determined by one's genetic template. Each Halorim is expected to fully embody the virtues of their template, contributing to the stability of their society. The Host does not reproduce biologically; instead, new Halorim are cloned as needed to replace the fallen or to fill roles in expanding projects.

Their culture revolves around preservation and observation. They maintain planet-sized genetic libraries, vast repositories containing stasis-locked creatures and flora collected or seeded across the Last Hand. These libraries serve as both a testament to the Creator's work and a tool for maintaining biodiversity. Despite their isolation, the Host's knowledge of life in the galaxy is unparalleled.

Role in the Galaxy

Once active seeders and uplifters of life, the Ringed Host has withdrawn from their former exploratory mission. They now see themselves as caretakers and judges rather than creators, cataloguing and protecting life rather than interfering in its development. This isolationist policy stems from a belief that the galaxy has reached an irreversible decline and must be preserved as it is.

Relations with Other Species: The Halorim are both feared and revered. Many species view their genetic libraries as both a marvel and a threat, as they include stasis-preserved individuals of their own spceises, and extinct or endangered species. The Ringed Host remains cautious about interstellar relations, often using Halorian envoys for carefully mediated contact.

Technology: The Halorim's mastery of biology is complemented by advanced technological prowess. Due to their biology, little advancement have been seen in things like armor or weapon technology. But their home system house a quantum catapult, which enable near-instant travel to a location within its range. This catapult can also deliver precision munitions to protect their border, a rumoured explanation for Earth's destruction.

Philosophy: The Host holds life itself sacred but views individuality as secondary luxury to the perfection of the whole. This belief often creates tension with species that value diversity and personal freedom.
