The Halorim of The Ringed Host are an ancient and enigmatic species whose mastery of genetic engineering and technology has allowed them to transcend traditional biological and physical limitations. Their appearance and behaviour have inspired awe, fear, and reverence in many species, including humanity, who once interpreted their form as angelic beings. However, their true nature is both more alien and more grounded in science than such myths suggest.

Physical Characteristics

The Halorim's original shape is reminiscent of a fusion between mollusc, crustaceans and aquatic creatures once seen on Earth.

Shell: A semi-circular, crab-like shell forms the core of their body, protecting their vital organs. This shell is dense, nearly impenetrable, and can withstand severe trauma or harsh environments. The base Halorim form is roughly the height of an average human, but twice as wide. Larger specimen can be several meters tall, depending on their genetic template.

Fins: Flowing meter long, fish-like fins sprout from their shell, giving them an ethereal, almost angelic appearance. These fins are highly sensitive and can detect vibrations in their environment, they are reinforced with bio-organic fibers, making them durable despite their delicate appearance.

Tentacles: A series of flexible tentacles, some of which end in compound eyes, allow the Host to interact with their surroundings. The tentacles serve multiple functions and can be used for manipulation, sensory detection, and communication. The eye-tipped tentacles can rotate independently, granting them unparalleled awareness, the Halorim often genetically enhance these to be able to see in a vide range of colors and light.

Cybergenic Anti-Grav: Their floating, otherworldly movement is not natural but achieved through anti-gravity harnesses—rings and bands of alloyed metals embedded with advanced gravitic technology. These harnesses allow them to float gracefully in any gravitational field, reinforcing their divine appearance.

Immortal: The Halorim's cells do not degenerate, making them effectively immortal, though they can be killed through catastrophic injury. The neither require food, as they sustain themselves by absorbing light, radiation, and cosmic energy, much like photosynthetic organisms. This trait allows them to survive indefinitely, even in the cold void of space.

Engineered changes:

The Halorim's genetic mastery allows them to drastically alter their physical forms. No two Halorim are identical, and they can design their bodies to suit specific needs within a predetermined "perfect" template. Some grow additional specialized limbs, larger fins, or stronger shells, while others streamline their forms for specific environments or tasks.

They do not reproduce in the traditional sense. Instead, when a member dies, they clone a replacement using one of their limited genetic templates. This process ensures population stability without the need for biological reproduction.

For the rare menial task or workforce needs, the Halorim clone simpler organisms tailored for specific tasks, often based on abucted samples from across the galaxy. These clones are non-sentient and engineered for utility, allowing the Ringed Host to maintain their society without dedicating themselves to mundane activities.

Genetic orgin:

The Halorim originated in the unearthly depths of a unknown and safeguarded gas giant, thriving within the high-pressure primordial soup at its core. Over millennia, they ascended as a species through biological and technological ingenuity, evolving into beings whose forms and abilities are as adaptable as they are extraordinary. Despite their complex nature, every Halorim is a clone derived from one of four "perfect" genetic templates, established by The Creator and revered as unchanging ideals of their kind. These templates represent distinct societal roles:

Halorian: Explorers and diplomats, tasked with navigating the galaxy and interacting with other species.

Halorin: Philosophers and spiritual guides, making sure every Halorim adhere to the perfect template.

Halorek: Leaders and laborers, strong and enduring, the foundation of infrastructure and governance.

Halovim: Artists and scientists, focused on creativity, invention, and innovation.
