Vhoz is the scarred and unyielding cradle of the Kzak, a species whose resilience is etched into the scorched earth and frozen wastes of their tidally locked homeworld. Orbiting the faint ember of a red dwarf on the distant fringes of The Last Hand, Vhoz is a tidal locked world of brutal contrasts one half consumed by its sun eternal fire, the other veiled in perpetual ice. Between these extremes lies the Band—a narrow strip of temperate land circling the planet’s equator. This fertile, habitable ribbon is the beating heart of Kzak civilization, a place where the clash of survival and ambition fuels constant competition.
Vhoz’s rich mineral deposits and vast subterranean aquifers accelerated the Kzak’s industrial rise. Their hunger for resources drove them into space, establishing colonies across nearby systems long before most neighboring species. The Kzak Empire rose from necessity—overpopulation, dwindling resources, and environmental pressure forced expansion at any cost. By the 23rd century, the Kzak encountered and enslaved the Xla'rion, an weak and insectoid species whose homeworld sat on the edge of Kzak space. The empire expanded rapidly until the 24th century, when they collided with an emerging and ambitious humanity.
