The Veins are a vast region of fjords in northern Brundal in the Kingdom of Kalvete. It is situated in the Spine of the North, with the fjords being flooded by the North Sea from the west. The city of Sanctuary is located within the region.
The Veins have served an important role for those living in Brundal, being a collection of sheltered, relatively shallow waterways that provide transport routes and fishing resources. While most of the surrounding shorelines are steep mountainsides unsuitable for settlement, some areas are sloped gently enough to allow for cities and towns to be built. Many of these are found deep within the Veins, which serves as a natural form of defense against potential threats.
