The Cavalry Department is a Department of the Sword Regiment, which is under the Imperial Legions of the Holy Empire of Acolytius. The Department is led by the Colonel of Cavalry, who is currently Dorothea Erwin.
The Cavalry Department specializes in any form of mounted combat, which most often uses the Horse as the mount. Being a somewhat large Department, it has the most varied techniques of any group within the Imperial Military. This is due to the versatility of mounted combat options, with Cavalry Department soldiers utilizing melee, ranged, and Magical options. The Department is divided into three subsections which specialize in these types of combat, specifically while mounted. These require variable yet longer training periods, which has made the Empire's Cavalry a somewhat exclusive group.
Due to the varied techniques of its soldiers, the Cavalry Department has uniforms of a similar variety. Melee cavalry often wears heavier steel plate, often embellished with carvings or surcoats that denote rank. Mounted archers wear armor similar to that of the Archery Department, although they possess specific embellishments or armor colors to denote their own status. Mounted Mages do not wear the traditional robes of the Mage Department, and instead wear modified uniforms designed to avoid getting in the way of their battles.
