Beyond the Faucet in Tuberdam, in the most remote region of the Bathroom, in the corner furthest from the Door, there’s a hollow plateau that, for its unique shape, has been named the Great Bowl. Once you reach the top, you can let your gaze span over a vast abyss where the constant trickle of water has polished the hardest and whitest of porcelains.
And that is the place where the first sprites mined the first enamel slabs that would later be used to create the amazing white armor that became the namesake of the Porcelain Army.
Nowadays, most of the soldiers in the Free Dominions do not wear cuirasses or breastplates, as they were re placed by tall dark hats and austere jackets of a colder shade of red than those of the Gendarmes.
Some soldiers of the Porcelain Army are responsible for defending the frontier at Topridge in cooperation with the Great Imperial Army, while others, the Cuirassier Corps, still wear beautiful enamel breastplates, plumed helmets, and extremely tall boots, as they stand as a picket at the Capitol or at embassies and escort officers, dignitaries, and Corporation or Consortium bigwigs. Most soldiers, however, belong to a squadron, which is a small military unit led by a commander who can rely on the captains of several groups, and the lieutenant or majors under them.
Squadrons are usually tasked with patrolling a specific area, or assigned specific missions dealing with the recovery of assets or rescue of someone, among their ranks, there is always a small group of fusiliers.
The Fusiliers are soldier kept in high esteem regardless of their rank, a feather in the cap of the nation and the army, who proved to be hardy troopers and tireless defenders on several occasions. To recognize a fusilier amid other soldiers is quite easy, as they wear tall and heavy hats made with either rat or bee fur and have a porcelain breastplate pinned to their uniforms to cover the peculiar blue jackets, which stand out amid the sea of red of their fellow soldiers.
The most important and famous squadrons of the Upper Floor are the squadrons of Heavy Armored Infantry, commonly known to the public as the Porcelain Infantry. These soldiers are the best of the best, selected undines who have the honor of wear ing the brightest and heaviest porcelain armor while wielding their double-bitted keys.
